4 rounds into a season ... a debut season. It reeks of desperation.

They had their chance and now they're publically in regret mode.
"Regret mode" sounds like digital Banjo Patterson horse .. LOL I like it.

Sorry I missed the emphasis on TKelly... Id not call it desperate more being aggressive due to the fact they know Gaff is going. Im sure inside their bunker with only their recruitment team with ears.. they have to admit they should have gone earlier. I think it looks like it could have been a Roughhead and Buddy situation... because I dont think we would have taken Allen if he was there at 22 or 24. And Ryan was looking good so... I think they regret not having another pick for sure.

Here are some post on Freo Fans on Tim Kelly

His partner doesn't like Geelong, hasn't settled in and desperately needs family support, he'll be playing with the Eagles as soon as he can.

Heard from an inside sauce Tundra? Not that it's all that surprising. Cant imagine Geelong will care that much. Will get two quality years out of him and upgrade a draft pick

There are a lot of posts that balance between Freo trying to get him .and perhaps who do we least want to help Geelong or WC..

P7 for Kelly and P13 was looked upon as being fair and reasonable . 6 spots in the draft for Kelly. Personally Id say no
Gaff for Kelly. No ..just from sc pov ..I doubt it works. ..dont forget we were only a couple of slabs away from busting the cap. Kelly is on min wage. Gaff will be on big , big dollars.

Whatever. We will see what pans out..but I cant see us agreeing to trade a 1st year player that looks so good for a box of jax crackers.

Id rather McGovern than Gaff if Kelly wants to leave, lets play hardball.

hmm, I heard something similar a day or so before the SEN article, can't vouch for the credibility at all though.
1. she has just had 2 babies with no support network
2. they have just moved state
3. he is now home less, as he is a professional footballer
4. she has no do more with the kids

Why would she not be 100% at the moment
- FACT he played his worst game in WA this year
- FACT the eagles didnt want him, when they could have had him
- WELLS should be sacked if he considers trading him for less than he cost on exposed form
- ANYWAY time to move on, we will not be trading him for Gaff, unless the deal is, eagles dont match gaff bid, and we trade kelly for pick 22 (as Kelly wants to go home), as we are too gutless to push teams on trades, and free agents

The talk of Gaff or McGovern for Kelly won’t ever happen. We act in good faith to all of our players, and if TK desperately wants to go home then we’ll look after the player first.

It this talk is all extremely premature. I suggest you all just enjoy watching him in the hoops.

don't disagree with any of that and I'm personally really confident that he'll stay (for all the reasons stated over the last few pages), just thought it was worth mentioning that what I'd heard recently wound up being echoed on the freo board a few days later.

Surely we can offer him 5 years if Blicavs is worthy of 5.
Chances are he'd rather a 2-year contract and back himself to be worth more when he is then coming out of contract, rather them locking himself in on a deal that may well work out to be unders in 3 years

And we do for Gaff? Pretty sure he would be on a pretty penny too
I think McG will be worth more but Gaff will be worth a heap as well. They are talking 1.2 x 6 years for McG

We all can make assessments on what we see..but cap space is really a black cave animal noises emanating .. we may think we know but its only an educated guess. My preference would be to keep money up the sleeve to take care of the players that look like future players for us..rather than pay money to Gaff or McG. But Caps are going up and player do have different contract structures... so roar roar if we lose kelly I guess its then a matter of do we pay to bring in a known.. or do we trust that we can replace him from within or draft.

GOLD Coast's NEAFL team did not kick a goal in its clash against Brisbane on Saturday despite featuring 11 senior listed players.
Forward Peter Wright and defender Kade Kolodjashnij were among the names to feature for the Suns outfit that was comprehensively smashed by the Lions at Burpengary, 12.24 (96) to 0.4 (4).
The Suns came into the clash with a 3-2 record while Brisbane had been 3-1.
Among those 11 on Gold Coast's list, five were former first-round picks.
Of that group, only Wil Powell was selected outside the top-10 – he went at No.19 last year.
I'm thinking its a pass on GC players looking to get out - a result like that doesn't exactly sell an opposition on the benefit of trying to trade them in or give them a second chance.

5th game of the Eagles I've watched this season, and it has solidified my thinking that our priority for the offseason should be securing the signature of Lycett.

His ruck craft is first rate, knows how to use leverage to win contests and can tap with either hand. He also gets involved after the ruck contest by either tackling or blocking to clear space something none of our current rucks do. He also looks to have a bit of a mean streak to him, likes to make body contact at every occasion.

202cm, 100kgs and 25 you'd think he would have 5-6 years left, would be nice to be able to lock the ruck position away for a few years

You'd never trade Kelly for just an upgrade would be madness. If Freo finished bottom 6 and us top 4 you'd probably consider say pick 5 + a 2019 pick (maybe their R2) for Kelly and 16 as 5 gets one of the King's IMO. But gee we rather retain Kelly and I doubt we trade him this year.

On the Gaff thing i'd rather keep Kelly but he'd be a good replacement, i would say backending contracts and the like would get around the $.
