We don’t know all the facts but if Kelly has indicated he wants to leave after round 8 that’s poor. Yes loyalty goes both ways and all that but being drafted playing every game at a good club not sure what you’d want to leave already. If he and his family didn’t think they could live outside of Perth why nominate for the draft?
Obviously I’m a bit biased but from what I know I really doubt Kelly would be better off at a WA club. At Geelong he’s playing in a great midfield and supported by a great club.

No offence to any wa supporters reading here but there is no way anyone can say those clubs have good welfare support. They have the worst off field issues than any other club. Yes I’m sure he would have good family support back home.

Clearly he’d be a big loss to the team and I’d hope we can well compensated.

The other thing to consider, and I know for a fact it’s been explained in crystal clear English to Kelly - is that it’s one thing to star in a midfield when you’re standing between Gaz, Danger, Duncan and Menegola and Selwood x 2. To be the second pea in the pod behind Nat Fyfe, in a side being flogged most weeks. That’s not comparing apples with apples.
And whats better for your career which will be a shorter than usual one anyway, playing second fiddle to Fyfe in a terrible team that won't play finals, or playing alongside Dangerfield, Ablett and Selwood for several years, playing finals every year and maybe snaring a flag?

He hasn't (99% sure), it's purely conjecture at this point.

He could get away with murder at freo. Culture is so poor the coach can sexually harass a woman, and then bully someone else and get away without the slightest punishment. And they probably wonder why their players are always in trouble with the cops, or go off the rails when they get delisted.

He's not. And i like Weller.

That trade was basically Weller and pick 40 odd for pick 2.
yes just looked it 41 and weller for 2 which became Brayshaw.

I think you can hear my preference. I love what Kelly does for us.. but I also know what Geelong is like , and what this years draft is like etc.. so it would not surprise me if that we are practical about the trade situations.. Geelong usually is.

But if (and im sure Geelong would know) this slightly unsettled vibe is being enhanced by voices from the west... id be letting them know early that he is a highly required player and he will have a HIGH price that will be relative to how he has played at afl level. And what he means to our group. Totally forget what you could have drafted him for or what we drafted him for. His stats are as good or better than Weller.

Thats very true... and to some degree you ay argue it makes him look as good as he may ever look. WC look OK atm.. lose Gaff maybe and add someone like Kelly ..its not us but its reasonable. And if it was Freo sure tougher gig. And if he goes back at some cost ..im sure he will have more expectations than what he has atm.

gaff in strengthens us, lose kelly and we break even
but gaff is a free agent, so we need to trade kelly into a first round pick sub 12 if he genuinely wants to go home
and at the moment the noise could be coming from his wifey and/or her family
and put a decent $$$$ cash infront of her and her tune might change

Hey ..just listening to David King going on about Sydney double dipping ..trading their R1 and still being able to get Blakey; there should be some rule for these clubs with academies he thinks ... ..I found that a little bit incredulous ... didn't we discuss North trading their R1 a little while ago , basically because of their academy kid Tamyyn Thomas ? Sometime id love to be able to twitter him..he is sometimes good but other times a bit narrow in his vision I feel. I wonder what he would say his mate the WC coach should have to pay for Kelly?

I get some things wrong but I got these ones right. We never needed such wastes of space, albeit for different reasons.
Yeah good call and I'm glad the club also saw it that way too. It become apparent after doing due diligence, we opted not to heavily pursue those guys. Early days, but both of those guys look like continuing their inconsistent form at the new clubs.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned previously, but I’ve just noticed Kade Kolodjashnij has been playing reserves this year. What happened to him that he can’t even get a game in one of the weaker teams in the league? Would he be available for cheap and would Geelong even want him?

I think he got a bunch of concussions - or a least more than 2 - and he might be coming back after that.
Regarding do we want him - im not sure you can ever have too many quality defenders... but with the emergence of Henry right now.. it would take a lot to convince me that KK is a better long term and cheaper HBF than Henry right now....

Henry is going to be a beast after a few pre season ...and along with Zuthrie we have another potential long term defender

Would love to add a few more with Hendo and Taylor on their last leg, and I suspect if Black can’t make it as a defender that’ll free up the cap some more for retaining all the quality kids we now find ourselves with.
