This is not official just speculation but AFL draft central have released their list of the 19 players they think have got an invite to the draft (basically the guys who are some chance at top 10 as the AFL wants the whole top 10 on camera-remember this can change cockatoo was rushed there at the last minute when we indicated we would pick him).

Allen
Bonar
Brander
Brayshaw
Cerra
Clarke
Coffield
LDU
Dow
Both Fogarty's
Higgins
Murphy
Naish
Naughton
Rayner
Richards
Shipley
Stephenson

The interesting ones in there are Shipley (i doubt GWS match a bid if it's in round one) and Naish (if he gets bid earlier than expected it will help a good tall fall past Richmond and to us). Murphy clearly a bolter up the order.

Interesting absentees are Hayes Constable O'Brien and Bailey so while if a club goes left field in the teens it may shake things up but otherwise those guys may be there in the 20s.
HS reporting in the Crameri article that O'Brien has been invited to the draft.

I'd rather just go with Hawkins at CHF and Buzza at FF for 20 games than pick Crameri.
I'd rather play Ablett or Dangerfield out of the square If we're serious about contending for the flag. Buzza's time will come.

Apart from when he gets concussion due to his courage he is durable enough. Hendo harry kolo house (who i rate) gardner and blicavs is plenty of kpds.

We need to find a decent 2nd tall forward and keep our small forwards on the park to win a flag in 2018.
Well there is only Buzza unless you think we draft someone straight into the side .. and keeping the smalls fit... I guess we can hope.

I'm pro Crameri,

Better option as a back up than Black and Stanley. If he gets his body right he's versatile enough to fit somewhere in our best 22.

This seems worth a shot to me. Worst case he gets injured all year, and he's only taken up one list spot and around 80-100k of our salary cap.

If his body is right then at worse would be a backup option if Hawkins went down with a LTI.

Am I one of the only ones who thinks Aaron Black didn't play that badly last season? After the GCS game, I thought he was very unlucky to be dropped. Rate him more than Stanley
At this point we're better off persisting with Black over Stanley because Stanley has had far too many chances and shown nothing.

I'm hoping a guy like Jordan Murdoch gets better next year. Had his best season this year and had a good two month patch during the H&A

Twomey has done his latest talent ranking (not an actual predicted draft):
Hayes at 19
Murphy Ling bailey l fogarty spargo ballard houlahan ballenden myers stoddart all in 20s.
Constable to possibly fall to 20s and thinks geelong or north may bid on naish.
Makes the depth/strength of this year's draft look a lot better. I definitely don't think it's anywhere near as weak as has been suggested. Lots of quality left in the 20-40 range.

I thought he was pretty good against the Giants too. Worked his ass off getting up the ground to provide a link iirc.

who's spot in the forwardline does he take?
Any of the four spots in the forward half that are up for grabs. He's fairly quick for a 189cm player, can play key position or flank and has a defensive mindset as well. As a dreamer, once again having a raking left footer in the forward half appeals to the 'John Sharrock' in me.

I understand the hesitancy to commit to a player with a recent - repeat recent - history of injury due to our dreadful record with recruitment in that respect. However as this draft isn't regarded as deep according to all the pundits, if we can get him on the cheap and list him as a rookie I think it's worth a shot.

I can almost see your point but I also doubt him making a difference...id rather give a local kid a shot even if it comes to nought. The two I have named , but im sure there are others. As I said..if he plays and becomes best22 and kicks goals in finals then i'l bow my head in deference ... but I see the addition of ZGuth and id hate to miss out on another young kid for a VFL player.

If he plays and is an effective forward kicking goals and relieving pressure on Hawkins thereby allowing Taylor to go to the back half would suffice and go a long way to getting us into the finals. It's not as if the forward half is settled. Far from it.

Now is our window. Waiting for a 'maybe' player is fine if we weren't in that window.

Im of a different mindset ..we must always have one hand on tomorrows list. The same mindset had us listing Hmac and Clark etc. There is less risk in this one.

It's a question of balance. However, the fact is our recent recruiting has been slanted to the here-and-now and he wouldn't be an early pick nor would he take-up much salary space. There is more upside than downside in my view. We see it differently.

I've covered the MacIntosh et al matters in my other posts.

But surely we would have already done this by now if we were going to. I can't see the benefit in waiting.
By waiting until after the draft, if a better alternative is available at the draft then we wont pick him up. If we dont get a decent immediate forward option, then we do pick him up as a DFA. Makes a lot of sense to wait IMO. If we get say 22 Kelly 24 Balta/Taylor 35 McCartin 54 Wooller, then we have two tall fwds extra and wont require Crameri other than as a possible rookie and would have another KPD when Harry finishes up. Plus a Motlop replacement. For me that would be the ideal scenario.
