Who I want, not who I think we'll take.

Pick 14: Deven Robertson
Pick 17: Trent Rivers
Pick 24: Elijah Taylor
Pick 36: Darcy Chirgwin

I like your list .... here is my first and last revision on the Wells thread .

P14 .. BRODIE KEMP ..too good to pass on

P17.. JAY RANTALL
inside , runs like we like

P24.. HARRISON JONES
... mobile tall with potential to play at either end but could develop into a CHF

P36.. SAM PHILP
running again ...but its anyones guess here ..Darcy Chirgwin for example or Perez as perviously mentioned who has trained at our club...

It was interesting watching Fox Sports News about an hour ago - they were showing (maybe replaying) an interview with some AFL media/journo/knows something about the sport guy, and they were discussing the draft

The guy who was being interviewed spoke about the professionalism that is expected by clubs, that clubs no longer just interview the player & their family, but also the schools & teachers etc. He then told the story how in past couple of years (didn't give a year or the player), that a club went to a players home for a final interview and on that back of it, said club put a line through the player having decided he wasn't right for the club, based on the fact he had a messy bedroom & didn't keep it clean - shows the importance of first or in this case final impressions

I'm curious as to whom said player was
It would only be a 'final straw' I imagine.

Other collected evidence must have been pointing tat way as well. I doubt they would overrule a trove of positive reports/material due to a teenagers messy room.

14. Robertson / Kemp
17. C Stephens / Gould
24. Georgiades
36. Williams

Tend to roughly agree. I suspect that we will probably end up with:

14. Robertson - potentially need to trade up.
17. Kemp - seems a bit of a slider over last couple of weeks.
24. Georgiades - think this is higher than I'd like to buy at but sometimes you've got to do that. Would hope for a De Koning slide and to pick up Georgiades at 36 but this is probably more realistic.
36. Williams- high risk, high reward type, weak draft this late, is kind of where we are at. Wouldn't be shocked with Elijah Taylor too here if he slides.

I don't discount a trade up to land both Robertson and Kemp.

Remember that Kemp is a die hard Hawthorn supporter so you would think they would have spoken to him. I worry about Robertson being a West Coast supporter, that for me could spell trouble in the long run with the go home factor.

To Quote: Brodie Kemp – Hawthorn: “It has been ingrained in my family for a number of years. I’ve supported them ever since I was born.”

I truly hate the Americanisation that is seeping into draft night. Live trades, spreading it over two nights... stop with the nonsense!!!
The thing is the NFL draft has its own hype already. The AFL has to make its won noise for it.

The Live trading whilst not a massive fan I get it. What has to go is the Top 10 crap.

Just do the whole RD1 and be done with it - and admit to be inflatuated with the NFL version and just say you are copying it and stop trying to make it the AFL version of the NFL version of the Draft.

GO Catters

Re: Robertson, its worth it for the melts if he is taken with pick 14 and becomes decent.

Re: Kemp, every kid has a team, give him two minutes in a different jumper and he will be fine. Sure, he probably wants to go to the team he barracks for but so does every kid.

Hawthorn fans have a built in hatred for Geelong......at least the ones I know!!!! At least it would be funny seeing the reaction of the rest of the family if we got Kemp, they would have to jump ship you would think, that would hurt.

The have a certain ex Falcon that comes from a Geelong family where t has been ingrained for many years etc.. So many example of kids who followed the "club" with all their passion and then that club became the one they loved to beat...
