What do people want on here from WCE for TK:

A) Pick 14 + 2020 First Round;

or

B) Pick 14 + 24 + 33.

OR go to Freo and get:

C) Pick 6 (+ Pick 26 hopefully).
Adam Cerra from Freo. But he is signed until end 2021

Perhaps I've missed something here but I assume you are banking on adding at least 1 additional 1st rounder in both 2019 & 2020 (possibly for Kelly) because we can't trade out our 1st rounder this year or next without trading additional ones in.

"...GEELONG won't be able to offer a first-round draft pick from this year or next...unless it can trade another one in beforehand.

The Cats are the only club in the competition that must use its 2019 first-round selection, with the AFL's rule on trading first-round picks kicking in this year.

They also can't trade their top 2020 choice in this year's NAB AFL Trade Period, because they used just one first-round selection in the past four drafts from 2015 to 2018..."

Of course. He’s going to WCE and no matter how bad Wells is as a trader we won’t accept 14 and 26ish for Kelly. It will have to be 14 and next yrs first as a basis

All this Freo stuff is just a pipe dream

I'll suck whatever the fu** he wants me to suck if he gets pick 6 AND 7 for Kelly.
There will be a long line

in saying that don’t go out and get any knee pads anytime soon I can’t see Freo doing that unless we throw something else in there.

Fyfe doesn't think so; very keen to get him. Fyfe is superhungry for that flag.

Definitely not worth TK in a straight trade. You'd get a First Round Pick + Cerra.
You might be correct.
I would take Cerra straight swap. He will be a revelation, specially in Victoria. Doubt that Freo will let him go at this stage.Signed until 2021.

I think unless really pushed the club wants the cap relief that comes with picks in drafted players..
Cerra ..I think you have the er goggles on... he is not close to the same value atm..maybe sometime in the future but its a moot discussion as I cant see Freo who wants to keep him ..letting him go when contracted.

Can trade a first if you get AFL permission and you haven't stuffed your list up
I know the AFL is feeling generous right now but we've already been down that track recently and I don't think the AFL is going to be quite as lenient this time around. Especially since we finished minor premier this year and are a perennial finals participant (I don't thinking arguing that we perform poorly in September is a solid enough argument to get us over the line).

Agree.
It's what I want though.

So Wellsy will get what we need, I believe

Geelong veteran Gary Ablett has reportedly agreed to terms on a new contract with the club, but still needs to decide whether he wants to play on into 2020.

The 35-year-old Ablett and the Cats have agreed to “commercial terms” on a new deal according to Seven’s Tom Browne but is “60-40” on whether he actually wants to sign it and play next season.

“It’s my understanding that Gary Ablett has agreed to the commercial terms on a new deal with the Cats. That contract has essentially been done and is on the table,” he said on 7Mate’s The Trade Table.

Great.
If it was my decision, and everybody here will be glad it isn't, I would say it's conditional.
No interstate games at all. That's 16 games max pre finals. (He would only be playing for a tilt at a GF)
No 5 day turnarounds.
Imo, This champ needs management

Yep we need better management of the team next year imo

I'm in agreeance with those conditions

I'd also look at no back-to-back 6 day breaks - depending on what our fixture looks like.

He showed during the year how important and damaging he can be, and that's what we need come finals

In Laird (1st+), Crouch (Future 1st+), Steven, Jenkins, hopefully the WA ruck with Pick 16, # 36, Guthrie upgrade, Bennell as a rookie

Out Kelly, Scooter, Taylor, Zsmith, Menegola (traded for something to add to Adel) Jones, Cunico, Buzza
That is fairytale stuff no way we will end up with all those players. I highly doubt Menegola will get traded. Crows would want more for Crouch and Laird.
Id be happy to pick up Steven and Jenkins cheap. Not totally against Bennell as a rookie but doubt he’ll end up at geelong. If we get some first round picks I hope we use them on young talent in the draft.

To me he didn't look off the pace when he was playing down back at AFL level, he wasn't great but he was more then serviceable.

A thing to keep in mind is teams play around 34 players at AFL level in a year, he doesn't have to be in the theoretical best 22 to contribute throughout the year. If we boot him then we'll have to use immediate resources filling in a position in the list that we'd other wise be able to ignore.

If we were to delist him, what type of replacement would you look at? trading someone in, mature aged recruit from the VFL or drafting a kid for the future.
I wasn't suggesting we delist him. And if we happen to do so with Taylor then we should keep him for insurance.

However, just as he was a bits-n-pieces player this year so he is likely to be next year.

His form was at best so-so in my view and I don't see him as part of our next premiership team. Therefore I'd rather us invest ones game-time in the likes of Kreuger.

The likelihood is we will get another first round pick this year on top of the one we already have. The trades suggested including holding onto our own pick I believe.

Goddard was suggesting tonight that if TK is ok with the prospect of going to Freo we could possibly end-up with 6 and 7. That would come about with the Saints handing over their first rounder for Hill and Freo combining it with their first rounder. Sounds good to me.

I think that original scenario by Big Cat had the picks gained from Kelly being traded.

As the AFL have just this year reached a point where a side , us, have been compelled to draft use... I doubt as the first demonstration of the rule they would be happy granting us an exemption.... but to be fair the 2e and ablett deal really doesnt quite fit the precaution the rule is truing enact... we really trade down rather than out... so If Geelong were desperate to trade our R1..lets say for a player like McLugguge or Ben King... it would be an interesting test case. We are not short of young players on our list or in the side atm... The difference between an later R1 and an early r2 would be hard to arguge against.

Last year Freo didn’t get a look in. But this year as far as I understand Freo presented. So he might allow Freo this year even if he prefers WC. But would Freo give up lick 6 for him? WC supporters saying he’s not worth it.

WC supporters saying he's not worth Pick 6? Surely not? If so...bloody hell...

Id not listen to biased opinions ... he is worth that and more ..obviously as shown by Goddard on the trade show. That doesnt mean we get what he is worth however.. like any deal we can only get what we can make them pay.. and we can only make them pay a good price of TK is legit willing to go to Freo.
