This draft feels like Geelong will look after Geelong. When Varcoe was released for a massive loss, Geelong did the right thing for a player that should have been a rookie. However we were relatively stronger. Now with a weaker list, we will not be paying too high a price for a player that is not right.

The biggest issue here is that the saints have 750k tied into a player who can sit on the sidelines next year. This is simply a rubbish story. Stevens has accepted less cash contract if he gets to geelong. If the saints dont do the right thing here, he can simply not play and get paid for the next 12 months. Wells is realising being the good bloke carries no carry forward currency.

In regards to TK, this is so funny it is ridiculous. Comparable trades are there for all to see. Weller, Neale, shiels, treloar etc
This is not some picks +12. Because if wells accepts picks 12 and 20 he should be sacked. Geelong simply cant compromise its future time and time again.

We overpaid for Henderson, why? He couldnt get a game at the blues. A first round pick was used on a round 2 player. Geelong supporters need to remember Rivers provided greater service and cost nix, and Henderson cost $$$ and a high pick.

Wells is not being a dodoro but stating what everyone in the industry except wce supporters accept. If wce were not prepared to trade out a player or two to get this deal done, they should not have given him false hope. Maybe wce thought gaff was gone last year, and had a different hand, and this situation is spiralling out of control.

It's like the media want to tell us what to do, we can't trade soft any more no way.
Like your post.

Has barley played in 2 years and has something that may end his career. Sydney have to be completely desperate to pay that
And he's one of the worst kicks for goal in the league for a KPF. Averages 1.8 goals and 1.4 behinds a game across his career, and hasn't improved across his career. Pick 4? They've got to be kidding. 2nd rounder for me, and even then he's still a big risk.

Haven’t read all the posts on Zac Guthrie but give the kid a break. He was exposed to AFL far too early due to injuries of AFL listed players. If it wasn’t for that early exposure we’d be excited by this 20/21 year old who has put on some size and clearly has foot smarts.

Next year he must perform, but we have Taylor signed on, kolo, Henry, Blicavs. Not much faith yet in Zuthrie from coaches, so I don’t have any either.

I had an email from AFL trade tracker. It mentioned Mason Wood for Jack Henry in a straight swap.

First I'd heard of this.

Do we have too many defenders and want to restore list balance by trading for a mobile forward?

Not sure I like the idea tbh.
Mason Wood is more or less average, and already 26.
Jack Henry is still very young and has room for improvement, plus he is a bit of an athletic beast.

It would make sense, as NMFC are looking to bolster their defence, and Cats are looking to bolster their forward line. Plus we seem to like getting ex-Falcons boys back on the list.
Both clubs seem to do the deals with little fuss.

Wouldn’t like it. Harry one more year, hendo possibly out, touhy older. We need Henry I think. Give them the Zuth!

Wouldn’t mind adding a spark down back. Murray? Cockatoo half back ?

I know he's your love child but just chill on Sokol. He is a good WAFL goal kicker. Not spectacular. He's 23 and been regularly ignored in drafts. He's not Liam Ryan or a mature ager with that sort of talent.
Hmmmmm sounds like a player who plays for Geelong.... What's his name again.... Ohhh that's right... Tim Kelly...

It would solve the other wing with Duncan moving more Half forward and Clark on the other wing, allows parfitt to the stoppages and takes away any need for steven..
I think Clark done well in his first year, but I just don’t have confidence in him as a full time wingman. He gets exposed too much in a defensive capacity for mine at this stage. Later...

hahaha for every Tim Kelly how many busts do you reckon there are!! Also it just shows how little you know. Tim Kelly was an inside mid who could translate his skill set to AFL. Sokol is a 186cm FF who is unlikely to be able to. He certainly won't be able to play the lead up out of the square player he does in the WAFL at the next level. Not sure he has the explosive speed or agility required to play other rolls in the forward line. That being said where else does he play? If you are going to have a dig at least have something to back it up with otherwise you just look...what is it again...oh that's right ignorant.

I know this is another story. But me personally I want us to play 2 rucks each game and keep Sav Rat and Hawkins permanently in the forward line.. except for Richmond 17 & Dogs 16. But all the Premier's in years gone by play 2 ruck...

If cocky plays it’ll be 100% as a forward and not down back
Yeah good point, yet still wouldn’t mind changing that defensive mix. Although successful, it lacks a running spark for mine. It begs the question will Scott double down on the slow movement out of defence or will there be a shift in style???

So resting ruckman also in forward 50 or bench?

Wouldn't be silly season without a Mitch Duncan trade suggestion - from Facebook

I suspect that they might be waiting to do the Kelly deal to offer him extended contract.... but Mitch Duncan is an UFA next year... is from Perth... has previously been linked to Freo... who would be desperate to get their hands on him... will likely lose Hill and miss out on Kelly... and will have draft picks galore...🤔

Watch this space I reckon...

Mate read other boards and see what they're saying l think with what he's done he can play just a little bit.
I think he'll go 20 - 40's.
Has performed to a Kelly level in the WAFL.
As you're saying knockers will be there with any mature player.

I heard his shoulder injury was from throwing a chair at chris scott during the exit meeting. So a trade is most likely lol.

I think all of the above... Threw the bench forward 50 etc. Stanley can play around the ground with his mobilty, so that's a good think. With either Fort or Abbott playing as the ruck.
Look in 07- Ottens, King
09 Ottens, Blake
11 Ottens , West and we played with 2 big forward with them all.
Recently. West Coast last year. Lycett, Vardy
Tigers had Tank, Solo, while still having 2 key forwards

I think he will a serviceable player at afl. I would only use a late pick though.

Now I know you're lying...

It's well known fact that Scott Durand l doesn't attend exit meetings, so clearly it wasn't him whom Duncan threw a chair at :p

Well if you're "not sure " why stat it as if it's fact?
You really don't know is the fact of the matter.
I've heard through informed sources he has a big tank huge aerobic runner, he's a Physical Trainer or the like.
But you probably know better.

If i was Geelong i would be concentratiing or paying attention to who currently is the best player in the WAFL and SANFL

When Geelong recruited Kelly i can remember Brad Dalziell ( who played a few years at W/Coast - but alot of years at WAFL level ) tweeted or said - that it is a smart decisionby Geel - because Kelly is easily the best player in the WAFL at present . Harry Taylor- had a couple of years at East Fremantle before Geel used an early pick - so he would have been a highly rated WAFL player at the time

And you can go right back to Glen Kilpatrick - N/Melb under 19s - then to Ess - flicked - went over to SA - won the Margarey Medal - then Geel recruited him - and he was a very good player - penetrating kick ( Fogarty and Parfitt are laughable in that aspect of the game in comparism ) and Kilpatrick had a bit of old fashioned dirt in him as well .
