WARNING TO ALL VISITORS TO THE GEELONG BOARD. You are - for the most part - welcome to discuss the current list management & trading situation at Geelong. However, this is our board, so be respectful of the home board posters & don't inflame arguments (make your points succinctly and move on). And if you're just here to troll, then don't bother or you will be enjoying a holiday

Be the highlight of my year if we lodged the paperwork nice and quietly for a delisted free agent named Alex Rance.
Followed by the melts 😂 Rance JC Smith Siggens 🤤

Richmond cant afford him
WCE he will not go there
Lions cant afford him now
Collingwood cant afford him, unless they move 1/4 of their list
St Kilda i would doubt once their ace Adelaide mid drops
Port Adelaide dont have the currency, and after they finish with Essendon, they will be exhausted
Carlton will need to get paper bags out, and the recycled variety to afford him
Melb have a Brown or two

so yeah, the dogs are another team who may be able to fit him in
i dont think there are too many clubs
Hawks
Dogs
North
Pies - Treloar cox out
Crows - maybe closer to Dartmoor than Geelong
Essendon- need a daniher replacement
Swans - could do another buddy

The Cats surely can't offer more than what they did for Paddy so in essence the net benefit is gaining a fringe player instead of simply taking the comp pick.

The collateral damage is that:

- Clubs will be wary in future dealings due to their combative and unprofessional approach at the trade table.

- A disenfranchised playing list due to inequitable player payments and the poor treatment of their senior servants

GWS have screwed up here. They aren't getting anything close to want they want. Perhaps they get nothing!

Not really GWS had to make a stand, clubs have been taking players off them all the time, he's there biggest name, they can't go down for nothing otherwise this will continue to happen to them

Pies are trying to get Treloar off their books so they can re-sign DeGoey

They'd need to shift more funds to afford Cameron than just Treloar & Cox

Honestly, why the hell do you of all people keep quoting me for?
I don't respect your opinions at all and all you do is pot posters on a daily basis as it's all your really good at.

Just stick to clicking those laughing emoji's thanks.
*You’re

Everyone has a right to post here, but with that comes a right of reply. Very little of what you say I agree with, and from time to time will see fit to refute a claim made.

Don’t like it then;

Your reply is never related to my opinions of footy though. It's always an abrupt pot shot like these ones from the past couple of weeks.

Again, all you seem to do on here is take pot shots at people.
Personally, I just don't get the point of it.
Because you seem like you enjoy taking the contrary view to what most think.

McEvoy: It is in the thread about our trading and you are talking about wanting a ruck from a club whose backup is Ceglar, and don’t even view him as their ruck ffs, and wouldn’t trade him to us. But will at the same time criticise the club for the old guys we recruit, for which McEvoy would be one of them. He most certainly isn’t our missing piece.

Err no: Crouch is worth 2nd rounder based off a compensation formula based off the $$$ St Kilda offered him. He’d get more if they were to trade for him and if the cats were to trade for Menegola this week we’d get a first rounder from someone.

Even Constable v Witherden is being contrary for the sake of it. One they play two different positions, and two poll 100 fans from all clubs and guarantee Witherden gets the lion share in a “which would you prefer” scenario.

I take potshots at you because you aim to incite, and then will dredge up the past for no reason. I have tried building the bridge with you, it simply does not work. Far too set in your ways criticising the club you proclaim to love, and for at least 3 decades has done more things right than a dozen clubs at least.

We still have the draft hand to get everything done

Higgins can be a pick upgrade for north - we give them 20 and get 27 and Higgins back (north want quality in, not our pick 37 for example)

Cocky to be something like Brisbane’s third rounder (42)

Trade 27, 37 and 42 to dogs for extra points for their pick 14 and something late this / next year back

We send pick 15, constable and narkle to gws for Cameron

Still take picks 13 and 14 to the draft

Assuming list sizes end up Max 42 players inc rookies, sending constable and narkle off in trade also solves a list size issue anyway

It’s not as perfect as what we were shooting for trying to pick Cameron up for nothing, but it’s pretty damn close

Separate note - does Atkins have to come off the rookie list onto senior list given his previous contract extension and Max number of years on rookie list?

Whilst I like both Narkle and Constable, that'd be a steal for us all things considered.

Could always swap one of those out for a future 2nd / 3rd round pick instead

Really just trying to highlight that there are a few things working in our favour this year - some by design such as the Kelly draft picks, some entirely unpredictable but nonetheless beneficial like list sizes post Covid into next year

Team will get this done some way, and we’ll all be smiling in a couple of weeks

I think if we get Cameron and somehow STILL take two 1st Round picks to the draft then we're absolutely ****ing flying:thumbsu:

Trade period starting... List sizes not even confirmed.
Gotta love the AFL.

I’ve been trying to remember for month which Freo player Bobby wanted to trade Hawkins for

Thank you for remebering
Sonny Walters sure would be lovely to have. Hard to prize away mind you, and wouldn't have traded Hawk for him.
Has been carrying us for years.

No doubt would be awesome to have ...and like you said trading Hawkins for him would be suicide to the team’s future even now let alone all those years ago

i got the point at the time as Bobby was whinging about Hawkins lack of mobility during his back injury year which was the reason for the lack of mobility ...but you don’t trade out a gun forward due to one bad year (which wasn’t really that bad anyway).

which is why it’s crazy what Norf have done with Brown imo

Cameron>Brown. Cameron-two first rounders and player Vs Brown -a second rounder is a tougher call.

Yep Cameron for 1st rdr and Miers, Close can cover Miers if needed then there's Francis Evans who l like very much although never seen him play. Lol!!!!
Wouldn't be surprised if Taheny developed the same way Miers did, kicked goals for fun as a junior think we'd have options if Miers was the one to go as much as I'd be baffled that a guy who was born and bred in Geelong with a partner from the area is happy to go to Western Sydney.

Miers is a goal kicker and Close is simply a pressure small forward. There is no evidence that he can find the big sticks like we know Meirs has proven he can
Close rotated between midfield and forward as a junior and at times in the SANFL think we recruited him with the notion that he could play a multitude of positions to be honest, excited to see what he becomes with another pre season under his belt.

Cameron>Brown. Cameron-two first rounders and player Vs Brown -a second rounder is a tougher call.
Cameron is a better choice due to his mobility and lack of injury, Brown still has some doubts due to his knee as is lacking flexibility in the way he plays.

but in terms of trade value you are tight it’s a tough call, I would lean towards Cameron due to his play style that would be better suited for the team...but GWS current trade demands is giving me a lot of concerns

Yeah l don't think so(he goes) but as you say Taheny is one we forget about after that crazy season.
Contrary to some opinions l don't necessarily want Miers gone, l think he's ok not brilliant. Doesn't lower his eyes enough and is a bit selfish at times which to me has stood out.

Ditto what you say, we need to play the trade/draft game our way, not the way the football media would like us to, it's all background noise to me, they hate Geelong!
At days end l hope we have a plan in place that gives up what we can afford to give up and what we want to.
And if that's to hard tough luck!!!
