Possible side deals with GWS (after they match and get pick 9/10):

Tuohy for a late pick
Constable for a late pick
Narkle for a late pick
Kolo for a late pick
Fort for a late pick

We give 33 for one of their depth players and take on some $

Why would we give up someone like Kolo, who has been best 22, for a late pick? Especially when our defense will start to weaken due to retirements and age.

Is it too late to turn Tuohy into a lock down defender? Would love to drop Kola and keep Zach down back. His skills are elite compared to turnover king Kola.

Yep, doesn't seem like the coaches want him in the backline anymore which really presents a problem because where else does he play? In reality what we could do is forget Higgins and play Tuohy in the Ablett position, he is a very nice kick of the ball and a good mark.

Because the side deal would be in their favour.

Much rather give up any of the above than agree to trade one of our promising young players. Kolo is definitely replaceable and surplus imo. Clearly I don’t rate him and prefer Henry

But then who do you play in Kolo's spot with Harry retiring? Would leave us 2 short on taller defenders and we dont even know whats happening with Henderson yet.

Replaceable with who? A 19yr old??

I don't think we can lose H and Kolo and be fine down back.

All this talk of playing Higgins forward. He averages more touches and clearances than Duncan (not saying he’s better) and is an elite user of the ball. Could be our midfield option to keep Danger forward?

Danger should be a mid with flashes forward, not the reverse.

Kolo doesn’t even play on the talls

I’d go

Fb. Bews. Blicavs. Stewart
Hb. Clark. Henderson. Henry

2 genuine talls, Henry floating third tall. Fit SDK in for a few games for a taste.

I’d be drafting a key defender in the draft and their are a lot this year. Much rather that than give up Esava or Clark or Parfitt.

He doesnt but he plays tall, also the MC seem very reluctant to play Blicavs full time down back which he should.

If Kolo was given the job on Cameron, Dusty etc during the finals then what's Bews' role?

Wouldn't it be better to replace Clark for Bews if the club seems to trust Kolo on those players that Bews used to take?

Kolo was a suggestion of one of a few names I threw in as a side deal for gws. I certainly wouldn’t give up some of our better young prospects that are harder to find. Because if the alternative is to give up a young gun I know what I’d do

Why? Can you name a single final he's made a big impact as a mid and our midfield hasn't been smashed?

Our midfield smashed Collingwood with him forward. Our midfield smashed Brisbane with him forward. Our midfield smashed Richmond for a half with him forward. We tried shifting him to midfield in the 2nd half on Saturday and it didn't help. How is the conclusion from this season that we need Danger in the middle?

Plus he is a heart and soul player. I love his enthusiasm and passion for Geelong

If we get Higgins and Cameron it changes the structure of the side greatly, you have Cameron at FF, Hawkins at CHF, Higgins on a HFF and then you put danger into the middle, throw in Clark to a wing and that's a ball busting attacking lineup.

Potential 2021 Lineup

FF: Rohan, Cameron, Miers
HF: Higgins, Hawkins, Dahlhaus
C: Clarke, Dangerfield, Duncan
HB: O'Connor, Stewart, Bews
FB: Kolo, Blicavs, Henry
Foll: Menegola, Guthrie, Stanley
Int: Selwood, Simpson, Parfitt, Tuohy/Henderson

I the 2019 Prelim Kolo played on Riewoldt and kept him Goaless.

He's fine forward if our midfield is winning, exactly. But what's the point sitting him FF if we're not getting the ball to him?

The Port game we got smashed in the midfield near the end of the game and it cost us the game. Richmond we got smashed in the mid in the third and it cost us the game.

Outside of the Pies game, he kicked 2 goals in 3 finals games and we had moments in our 2 losing games where he starts forward and it kills us. I've said all finals, he should be played like Dusty. Start in the middle for the clearance and then play forward.

And then no team will trade with us ever again.
Don't we get the opportunity to trade in some of that 'goodwill' we've been stockpiling for the past decade? From the sounds of things GWS are using our goodwill in the Dangerfield trade as a precedent against us.

Haven't you heard, we are apparently salary cap cheats etc etc....just ask Eddie!!!

The big problem is your assumption that our midfield is better with him in there. How many times do we need to see our midfield get smashed with him in there in finals to see that maybe he's part of the problem and not the solution? How many times do we need to see the opposition waltz it out under no pressure from clearances or see us hack it out to see that his see ball get ball style doesn't help us have a well structured midfield setup? Even this finals series our worst midfield performance was against Port when he played the most time in midfield. Against Richmond we gambled on putting him in the middle from late in the 3rd and we got smashed in there.

Look I've got absolutely no problem with us putting him into the midfield for 5 minute bursts or maybe a bit more if we're getting badly beaten but he's much more valuable forward.

The mastermind who brought Beams home on big coin to do finger-painting having the temerity to question other club's finances. 🤣 🤣
