Eddie mchins on triple m this morning talking utter crap about the pies. It wasn’t salary cap issues, it was because they want to go to the draft :rolleyes::drunk:

So you throw away some highly paid stars for some crappy late picks for that? At least be honest with your supporters. They might be brain dead magpie supporters, but even they aren’t that stupid.

I think it's a great idea some still quite good ones are picked 3rd, 4th rd, all the focus being on mids, fwds and defenders, we might snag a good one.( young ruck)
 
Wells just said it best. Said we were never paying 3 picks. Said the picks for next year and getting out of this draft made a whole lot of sense.

Said there will be good players no doubt but they will be harder to find.

Said Jeremy Cameron has been extremely nervous the last few days

I lol when he mentioned que just after I posted it ... but its obvious he is more confident/hopeful about our unseen younger players than those outside the club.

and .. he at least mentioned an awareness of opportunity need for younger players

Any mention of potentially trading back into this years draft?
 
What ended up happening with Jack Steven? Did he go or have list sizes stayed mostly the same and we'll go around again?

He is literally a flog of the very highest order. Answered no questions, blindly said the club was right and tried to kick under clubs under the bus. Pathetic.

Reading between the lines (pardon the pun) it appears the club are encouraging Jack to consider his post football future. Now.

Ah yep, that makes sense. I guess we've got 3 extra list spots to fill (given we gave up alllll of our first rounders), so I wondered if perhaps they were reconsidering asking him to reconsider.

Always tries to deflect. Is happy to whinge and complain about other clubs but can't take any negativity directed at Collingwood.
The sooner he is out of the media the better.

Wells wasn't too keen to discuss it but basically said he is taking some time to consider if he wants to play on. If he wants to play on then the club will welcome him. But its up to him.

I wonder if it makes more sense to try and trade up next year. In different circumstances giving up three first rounders for Cameron would seem excessive, but half the draft pool hasn't played footy this year. Makes it a much bigger punt than usual.

November 20: List Lodgment #1
November 27: List Lodgment #2


Thinking we won't hear more about Steven for a few days - his spot on the list wasn't really relevant to the events of trade week, but more relevant now that we know list sizes

The club has advised Narkle, Jarvis & Zuthrie that they'd like to retain them but it depends on list sizes - the club will now be looking at things, strongly encouraging Steven to seriously consider his future & if he's 100% committed to football, otherwise the club would probably prefer to use his spot for one of those younger guys

Very true. It just has a feeling of “we’re not finished yet” about it though!

There is only question he could rightly ask ..but he dare not ask it..... have Geelong traded in these players in a responsible manner..what affect will it have on their Salcap... they could be having to do a fire sale in a year or two..

Future? Have a look at the last 5 R1 picks Coll used.. Treloar , Beams and Stephenson

I read something about the pies doing a massive salary cap dump with an eye on next year's FA.
Any ideas on who's available?
Surely after the way these players have been treated you'd think twice about going to the pies?
 
Kane Cornes has been all over the pick calcs this week slamming Geelong for their rubbish offers. Calculating every last detail trying to let the world know he was the smartest man in the room. Talked about pick slides and next years draft being better. The TK trade about 1000 times

So I just assumed he'd slam the weak Giants today on radio for caving. I mean the deal is worse than two picks outright.

However today the Giants did very very well holding these Cats to account and extracting maximium value in 3 first round picks which is what I always said would happen. Now wants to hear from Cats fans on if they feel it was too much.

Its sounds like they have given him the hard word...
...You will have to work extremely hard to earn best22 .. no more games being less than a streamlined player.. etc. and maybe a lot of VFL games. If you want to work hard then all good but thats how it looks..if you want to talk about about payout we can do that..
