Here I was thinking it was Devon Smith.
I was hoping it was Brock Smith from Brisbane

I like isaac smith.

Care to say how we will measure that ... on paper... How do we cover Taylors spot as much as Ablett.

more goals kicked..and more goals allowed? Im less concerned with being technically 'better'. do we get games into SDek ...and Stephens ..who according to KRock has been on the ArnieS weight program and is ready to play.

I like isaac smith.

Enough with the old guys. Do we really need to add two 32>33 years old players?

One would have to think that no matter the offer ...we will struggle to prevent a match if they loose this many players ..

AFL trade news: Zac Langdon set to be SIXTH Giant to request trade
Another Giant is reportedly set to walk out the door!

Tom McDonald potentially heading that way, he’s over paid.

There is one. And they are enquiring about Hogan.

Don’t be surprised to see us and the 2 Adelaide’s linked with George Hewett over the next week or so, I’d expect us to be linked with some more inside players, I think there’s a definite desire to find a ready made, mid 20s inside mid.

The sooner Rfa is removed the better... IF as some have talked... that some draftees are 3 or 4 years... then the aflpa will want something in return. The R should go ...and FA for at 6 years is where they should push imo.........

That's easy to say as a Cats supporter... Suspect the cellar dweller clubs would have a different take on it. :/

Which part ? Rfa .. 6 years?
RFA would be the biggest thing for them I think. I think that its kind of 1300's feudalism but without it you would end up with shit teams having to pay overs to keep talent, which would lead to unbalanced team budgets which would create further problems with player retention (like GWS at the moment but on steroids). I wouldn't be totally against having a variable salary cap so that shit teams can spend a bit more on players than good teams.... Though that said current system aint too bad. Cats are really an outlier staying up for so long, most of the other teams which have an up period follow it with a down.

We don't need anyone besides Cameron and Higgins. They both replace deficiencies we had this year/loss of players, and everyone else will come from our depth or from the draft.

Given we're not getting Crouch now, seems more likely that Narkle stays I reckon.

Immediate depth for next year, that could play many games:

De Koning, Clark, Stephens, Steven, Narkle, Fogarty, Close, Atkins, Ratugolea, Jarvis, Zuthrie, off the top of my head.

Only one I'd want if he chose us, is XOH. Everyone else is either too expensive, too old, or not worth it.

Could also get W. Phillips, Bruhn, O. Henry, Thilthorpe, Perkins etc. if we trade up/keep our picks. Definitely no need to waste picks on other trades, with the depth we already have

Feudalism.. draft is almost like indentured servitude..
RFA is like being half pregnant... Lets make more players available ..lets open it and lets not pretend that players have not got preferences. Sure look at the cap ..

Agree. Unless other players come in for later picks. Would want to hold on to a few good ones for ourselves.

I think we have plenty of talent... but perhaps we are not quite balanced if we want to play Danger forward. Do we trust the kids we have or the kids we will draft. I think we can find a inside mature guys somewhere if really need to but do we really need to ... we will not find Danger this year.

If Steven has a huge off-season (which I think he will given how close we are win/lose today), then he fills that 'star mid' role by default. Allows Danger to play mainly forward and gives us another AA mid in the centre.

Given how fit he looked before he did his hammy, I'd be very surprised if he didn't come back from the off-season in ripping shape. Still only 29, and had two years out from the game, so no reason that he can't still play a huge role over the next 2-3 years

Further to my point - re: no more trades due to listed talent -, if Steven was to come back fit and firing, Harry and Gaz retire, Clark gets significant game time and we get Cameron and Higgins...we actually get STRONGER next year.

B: O:Connor, Hendo, Bews
HB: Stewart, Blics, J. Clark
C: Dunc, Steven, Menegola
FO: Stanley, C. Guthrie, Parfitt
HF: S. Higgins, J. Cameron, Dahl
F: Danger, Hawkins, Miers
INT: Sel, Henry, S. Simpson, Kolo

EMG: Tuohy, Ratugolea, Close, Narkle/De Koning (if Narkle leaves)

Is there a team in the league that will be better than that? Crazy

Even if Narkle leaves, Steven flounders and Clark doesn't get game time/leaves, we still have Tuohy to slot into Clark's spot, Sel to take Steven's spot in the midfield and Close, Atkins, Coop, Fog all waiting in the wings to take a mid spot on the bench. Incredible depth right now

31 R1 next year

Agree.

There are two areas where I think we can improve next year. Blicavs replacing Taylor down back. And Cameron partnering with Hawkins up forward.
The area of concern for me is in the middle with question marks over the older and younger mids on the list. If Cameron comes it allows us to play danger in the middle for another year which would change things.
Still potentially an issue of the ruck and who helps Stanley or plays when he misses.
