That's complete madness lol

Obviously the hope is to avoid paying overs but even if we do end up paying a premium it's still a deal you do every day of the week.
Its not Madness.

1. he has 2 good seasons left in him before hitting his thirties. Most key fowards fall away from there,
2. he is coming off a poor season. Maybe the decline has already begun.
3. we already have a second key forward that we have been developing for a number of years. And yes his potential aint camerons level but that player now becomes a bit useless to us.

cameron is worth around pick 10 To us whether thats through compo or we pay that outselves. But we shouldnt be paying more than that. Ps. If cameron was 24 he would be worth 2 pick 10s. But he aint that young anymore.

i remember having all the age arguments with richmond and a number of geelong supporters when we tried to get deledio. Another 5-7 seasons he would play with at least 3 at A grade elite level. Yes he has some niggles at the moment but historically he has been a highly durable player who will play elite football well into his thirties. Definately worth a first rounder. He only played 22 games from that point onwards before retiring and only a handful Of those games were even close to elite level. Admittedly delidio was being trading whilst having some injury issues whilst cameron appears free of them at the moment. But the point remains. Players who have been durable for a long time can very quickly be plagued by injuries as they get older. It happens to most of them as their body can no longer deal with the stress. In some cases its the those that have been the most durable from 18 to 28 who crash and burn the quickest as there bodies have had no rest periods for a decade.

as another example. Henderson came to us on big money at 26 As a highly durable player that was just a slight level below all australian defender worthy. He was our best defender at 27. at 29 the club let him go and most thought he should retire. He had slowed down, apparently had become a liability and was no longer good enough. This is at 29. Cameron will be 29 in his second season with us. Henderson has been rejuvenated this year at 30 but again most people think he is old and really has maybe one more year left in him. He was a highly durable player when he came to geelong. An old man at 29-30. Camerons form has also Started falling away at 27.
