That is where we disagree. It is very important to have good character but if we are going to look at him it will be almost all about how good he is as a player. The character part is more just a tick off that he's not dodgey.

The character part is important otherwise a guy like stack wouldn't have lasted til the rookie draft. Recruiters won't draft a guy they don't rate just because he is a leader but in the case of two equally ranked players leadership will often push one up above the other.

Daniher is touring Brisbane's facilities shortly.
Well that was the suggestion yesterday - Daniher to Brisbane

Can't remember the 2 being linked previously, but considering that Brisbane were apparently keen on Dixon before he recommitted with Port - it's not that surprising to see them looking at other options

Does it mean that any of their forwards are potentially available should they land Daniher?

Yeah, it's a raffle, but picking up an old guy who'll probably only give us one season just doesn't outweigh the potential to uncover some talent in someone younger for the long term, imo.

We are in a flag window so while we are bringing in lots if kids for the longer term a short term crack at a flag still matters but it's all about lesser cost with older players. If Steven cost round 1 we wouldn't have traded him but for a late pick we were prepared to go for the short term..same with Higgins.

Hipwood is untouchable I'd say but you might find guys like mcstay/ballenden/wooler/skinner etc are gettable if daniher goes there..some could be poached.

Clearly you aren't going to draft a kid that hasn't the ability to be up to the standard of AFL. He would need to be able to demand a game on playing ability alone. But clubs look at a whole range of factors when assessing prospects. It's not a one size fits all. With XOH, his leadership skills would clearly be attractive as part of his overall package.

So now Crouch is being linked with Port Adelaide .... that would be an unusual move ..its seems not many exchanges happen between those two clubs.. a bit Hawks and Cats. Be a good fit id have thought.

It's uunusual for port-crows to do trades I only see it if Crouch partner (who is from SA) doesn't want to leave SA (much like we got danger because Mardi wanted to come home) but if she is happy to move interstate I think we are in the box seat.

Our 7 for your 15 & 16. Yes or No?
500 points difference to allow for slippage.

Would depend on if the player we want is there..I'd say we would only do that trade live on the night.

A guess... we add a player to the deal and we get it done if they want him. They have chopped a large number and they may look at someone who has played afl level as appealing.

Last year North were in the state of euphoria ,new coach , finals bound ... this year they have decided to cut hard.. and if someone is not a long term player then they might be more willing to let them go.

Put it this way ..we will not have to wait long to find out ...

We won't trade a R1 and I doubt they take a 40s type pick and they need players..so yes I see more likely that it's a player trade (with one of our fringe players not someone from the top 22) if we go for Higgins.

Given the lack of exposure, I'd be reluctant to target KPP would our picks this year, they have the smallest margin of error from being good to okay to being useless at AFL level. With our early picks I'd be happy with 3 mids/flankers with decent mix of size, skills and athleticism. We should be looking for our next Guthrie and Duncan.

I agree there is more risk taking KPPs but given where our list is at its our greatest need so for the right player I'd look at it especially with multiple R1s. I honestly think we have some of our mid replacements on the list already and even if we don't midfielders are easier to get with late picks than good talls are. But ideally we try and do both.

1. Some Vic Metro captains don't even get drafted so you can chill about that.

2. I only referenced working in the system because you asked if I even know anything about him. Not sure why it annoyed you so much.

3. You are right I only have an opinion and nothing else. It is probably based on more information than some because it's what I do but it isn't more relevant than anyone else's.

4. I just think hyperbole like that statement is silly. It's just my opinion but to go from was Metro captain to not playing too much for GWS to could captain Geelong one day is a fair bit of a stretch but we are all entitled to our opinions. I am just not a big fan of extreme suggestions to back up points but that is jusyt me.

1. Never said they all did. I think you are the one extrapolating what I posted.

2. Didn't annoy me though I think you use "working in the system" as therefore having some sort of superiority of opinion. Now, I don't "work ïn the system" but I have a brother that works at the coalface of one of the large Melbourne clubs. He doesn't come from an AFL background and is staggered as to how narrow in focus many that work in the AFL are. They lack a broader vision. Have very little out of football experience. Anyway, a bit of food for thought...

3. ok

4. Hyperbole may be "he will be captain one day". I think you are reading far too much into a post from an internet forum where all sorts of ideas are thrown up.

JD been linked to Brisbane for months
Remember the discussion at the time it was an usual target.

Anybody watch Matt Randell on open Mike last night. Nice story on how he drafted the likes of Dangerfield, Laird, Curnow and missed Neale as the one that got away.

Fairly bitter about his exit from Coll this year. Said there is a Matt Rowell in this draft and his name is the injured Will Phillips. generational midfielder.

Daniher would be a great fit for the Lions if he went there and was fit they’d be favourites next year for the flag.

Nightmare pumping him up on the draft boards too I see.

Curnow? Did he work for Carlton or am I missing something? I thought he was just at Adelaide and the Pies.

Daniher I feel was always open for a move interstate, wanted Sydney last season and now appears to fancy Brisbane. I think we obviously asked the question, media got wind of it, Hawkins says he’d love to play alongside Daniher to they assume we are in the front seat.

We’ve been after Cameron for a while and he’s the one we’ll gun for IF he decides to leave, which I think GWS and the ‘AFL’ will do what they can to keep him there.

Hi all. Coming in peace but someone put a rumor up on our board that we are keen to get Brandon Parfitt. No idea myself if there is truth to it but what is the feeling here as to how valuable he is going forward and could he form part of an overall trade for B Crouch?

I can see what you're saying, but if we don't win it this year I don't see yet another old guy helping us to a flag next year.

We were the oldest team ever last game as it was, I think.

I dunno, I'm just not sold on the team slowly getting older year by year.........

Rather not give up someone like Parfitt for Crouch. He has a really good future in the league imo

No way Josè
If we have to trade for BCrouch we are better off walking away

The AFL would probably put a hit on Wells if he lured Cameron from GWS.

He'd be hurting their project to keep us great, which the AFL is probably sick of.

Who else would you give us, in addition to Crouch, for him?

THIS IS the year

shorter quarters
Shorter season
We’ll never have a better chance

Through a weird coincidence, every club to have won a premiership since we last won one has had an ex-Geelong player involved.

Sydney had Mumford in 2012.
Hawks had Simpkin in one of their threepeat teams.
Bulldogs had Hamling in 2016.
Richmond had Caddy in 2017 and 2019.
West Coast had Vardy in 2018.

Although tbf none of the guys listed above, with the exception of Mumford, were crucial elements of those premierships.

With respect to Mummy, you're talking about the season as a whole, right? His 6 possession, 14 hit-out GF was a complete non-event, and he must have ended up being very relieved that his entirely anonymous game didn't cost the team more on the day.
