You could quite easily argue that it’s been outstanding.

I mean a better ruckman than Stanley and we'd have multiple flags imo but I do think we got the better end of that trade than Brisbane (i thought the opposite at the time).

This isn’t AFL evolution 2 you can’t find 4 vfl players and send them to a team for 2 of their players.

This year is different though because most club's have to cut lists hard and North are one of the few with list spots and money to burn and they need players.

Tells you everything about how parlous our rucks stocks are (whenever Rhys is unavailable) that some would apparently jump at the prospect of snaring Preuss.

As a first-year draftee, Jackson had him covered in his sleep at the Dees this year. He is really not that good. And now appears to be another one of those intriguing characters who increases in supposed lustre with every game he doesn't play at AFL level.

Look he's not outstanding but you name me a better ruck who is actually gettable? And I'm all ears. We need a decent mature ruck now.

The same prob for me as it was the last 2 times, what does he really offer?

He isn't what I would call a decent ruck and still contracted but not much else on the table I 'spose.

I do get that but Stanley is so injury prone and will be 31 next year we have to bring in another mature ruck even if it's just depth we can't run with him and fort alone. I just can't see anyone that much better who is gettable.

I'm not overly fussed by Crouch, but I'd love to get Cameron and Viney as free agents, trade either our R1 or the Eagles R1 for Caldwell and trade our second round pick for Higgins.

Take two first round picks to the draft. We have then addressed some immediate needs which will help us continue to push for a flag, as well as keeping an eye to the future with some young talent coming in too.

Perfect.

There isn't one. Which says much more about 'the cupboard' than the player. For 'minimum chips', I suppose you do the deal.

But he won't be a difference-maker for us in my view.

It's not about his ability as a player it's about not having to play blitz in the ruck if Stanley is injured. We need a 2nd league standard ruck on the list and I'm not sure fort is that.

I'm sure he'd be quite willing to just be depth ;)

I’d just keep Fort over Preuss personally, he has ability no doubt buthe never pushed Goldy, then went to a club where he was never going to get past Gawn.

Ladhams at Port is one I’d test the waters with especially with his COVID “mistake”, Cameron at Collingwood is a better ruck than forward where he’s had to play for them, then there’s Darcy who some how is only 22.

“Gettable” I guess comes down to how much you wants to pay.

I'm sure Forty isn't. And I think the MC knows that now. So your desire to see someone like Pruess on the list is probably likely to get some traction.

Lets face it..man for man ..list 18 clubs ruckmen ... we would struggle to not be in the bottom 4 ... .. and look at hwo we have been linked to... I cant see it changing. If we some how got Daniher we might fluke our way into one ... but the most likely out come is that come R1 in 2021... we are discussing Stanley and Fort

Tbh I would rather nankervis but with soldo injured I think that ship has sailed.

I just want a decent mature ruck backup whoever it is so I'll take preuss if we can't get anyone better...it seems silly to me to strengthen already strong areas of our list if we don't also strengthen our weak rucks.

Ladhams is a port supporter contracted in the 22 and they wouldn't even take a R1 for him as their academy kid will get bid around that range swallowing it. He isn't gettable.

I'm not a fan of preuss but we need a better ruck than fort and I think he at least is that.

Don’t rate Brown. He’s only decent at the sterile conditions at Etihad where we play about 2 games a year. Has very few strings to his bow. If he doesn’t mark on the lead offers sfa. Big pass for me.
to this also, could he be less effective at KP as well. Given the thinner ground and less width to lead into.... perhaps his game is even more comprimised there.

Id be wary even before thinking of that.. just adds more to the no pile for me.

But what are his thoughts on ****? :tearsofjoy:

Because he isn't very good. His body is stuffed and he has no agility. So he can only run in straight lines, and teams have figured out just to plonk a defender in front of him and he can't do sh*t. He's essentially become impotent.
but our free kicks for count would go up though :thumbsu: :p

Gotta feel for them. The contracts and $$$ they offer some players and STILL noone wants to play there.
They just lack any kinda sexiness
double edge sword...

in 99 i remember North casting a ballot to keep GFC in Geelong... or something along those lines... so there is forever a soft spot of respect for Norf...

With that said, seeing the cliub that Brayshaw had so much to do with in the gutter brings such joy.. - I have little time for JB.

Some gold buried in an AFL article about the chase for Higgins...

Coleman medallist Tom Hawkins is on the verge of a new two-year deal and onballer Brandan Parfitt will soon ink an extension, but the Cats believe they have room in their salary cap to attract more talent.
