DOES ANYONE KNOW IF BEN BROWN CAN RUCK?!?!
I think he's been used in the ruck in the same manner as Hawkins over recent - takes ruck contests in the forward line but doubtful you'd play him in the ruck full time

He does average 2.1 hitouts per game - not the answer in the ruck

Looked okay draft year

Yeah, he did. I reckon he could be a good player. Opportunities at Richmond seem limited moving forward for him. He's from SA but Crows and Power look well set for rucks. I think he could be one to look at. He's under contract at the Tigers, but could be gettable (particularly after the recent incident).

Ladhams is a port supporter contracted in the 22 and they wouldn't even take a R1 for him as their academy kid will get bid around that range swallowing it. He isn't gettable.

I'm not a fan of preuss but we need a better ruck than fort and I think he at least is that.

Are you serious about getting a ruckman or not? you’re going to have to over pay in contract, years & picks/players, if not find the best state league ruck and roll the dice they won’t be significantly worse than Preuss, may actually want to play.

Edit; this may have come off a bit aggressive, not intended, I just think do it right, go get a good ruck pay what ever it takes & commit to it, or get a cheap option and draft a (multiple) ruck prospect/s.

I'm happy to trade a good ruck in for a R1 but it needs to be one who is gettable.. not one who his current club won't trade (Not criticising you at all).

Yes plz, think Arnie would make a gr8 Mummy style ruck.

The incident wasn't really 1 of his making apart from being stupid enough to break restrictions. He twice tried to cool down the agro guy who came over, got in his face & punched him. It was Stack that went ballistic.

Think they made him drop his kebab o_O

Yes, I'm a north fan and laughed at that. I'm sure a lot of Collingwood supporters would approve. Somebody from Carlton is trying to give us Jack Silvagni too but I don't think we are that desperate. I would be more interested in Charlie Constable. I have seen him live a couple of times and wonder why he can't crack a regular spot in your team- is he slow, poor disposal or what?
Why do you need another inside mid? I thought you had plenty of them ?

A lot of clubs struggle with ruck.
1. None that are top quality are available.
2. If a top ruck was available he would demand huge coin..
For rucks i think the best course of action is to find one in the draft... It is a position where there are so many garbage players, where clubs demands high draft picks...

Instead trolling the dregs on other lists.... get someone like this kid... Mayeb we should consider.. 'Maxie' the king of the Big Boys club....

204cm Sandy Dragon Max Heath grows into AFL draft contention
Beaumaris product Max Heath has played only one game in the NAB League. But even without having a kicked a ball this year he’s had interviews with six AFL clubs. Here’s the story behind his rise.

It’s probably a stretch to say AFL recruiters are mad on Max Heath, but they’re certainly sizing him up.
At 204cm, there is a lot of him, and the scouts will get a better look at the Victorian component of the draft combine.

Without having kicked a ball in the NAB League this year, the Sandringham Dragon has come into contention for an AFL listing.

At the end of last season no one at the club could have seen it happening.

But ahead of this season they had seen Heath go from a laid-back lad to what coach Josh Bourke called an “almost intimidating’’ presence in the ruck.

Heath, from Beaumaris, played one NAB League match last year, against Gippsland Power, “and was reasonable’’, according to Bourke.

Bourke and region manager Mark Wheeler discussed getting “development games’’ into him for 2020. They had the idea of him returning to the club as a 19-year-old in 2021.

“But by halftime in our first intraclub this year we’re going, geez, big Max is going OK here,’’ Bourke recalled this week.

“By the next week in our next intraclub we’re sitting there saying, ‘Boys, we might have found our starting ruckman’. And a week later he played against Oakleigh in a practice match and Paul Corrigan (Vic Metro Under 18 coach) comes up and says, ‘I reckon we’ve found the Metro ruckman’.

“That’s not to say he would have been, because you never quite know how that stuff will end up, but his trajectory went from playing a couple of games in the development space to being talked about for Metro.’’

Bourke said Heath had been happy to “cruise’’ through training, but that changed. Teammates saw a “competitive beast’’ and he developed into “a bit of cult hero among the Dragons boys’’.

“They love big Maxie. When you’re 204cm you draw a crowd, and we have something at the Dragons called the ‘big boy club’. All the key position players go down to the goalsquare and they compete one-on-one and the winner stays on. And he went from being pushed around to becoming the unofficial king of the ‘big boy club’. It was a big effort.’’

Heath, 17, credits a pre-season meeting with Bourke for his turnaround.

He said a group of about 15 top-age players were called into a room before Christmas and told they needed to lift.

The Xavier College Year 11 student came away from the meeting understanding he needed to improve his training.

A draft ruck will be ready in 2024 and Stanley is 31 we can't wait that long. We need a now option for our window.

What did he say?
The fact Crows don't even have a contract offer on the table for him, he found out about their new assistant coach on the TV news...clearly out of the loop.

He's gone. Can't see it any other way. Might not be Geelong but I doubt he is any chance of being there next year.

IMO he and Matt will play better football next year away from one another.

That being the case, no one (us included) will take them seriously if they threaten to match an offer. It sounds like he's being kicked out of the club. Take your band 2 compo and leave it at that.
