They want to wait for what offers come in and they will match if they aren't satisfied.. Trying to have their cake and eat it too..
Yeah, but it's just a terrible look. How would you feel about a club that said:
"Nah, we're not gonna offer you a contract until we can see if we're better off keeping you or shipping you off"
Like, yeah, footy is a business and all that, but there's still a personal relationship element.
Surely even going "This contract is what we value you at. It's on the table, sign if you wish. No obligation, we won't be upset if you talk to other clubs" is a better way to go
