Wonder if we'd be willing to deal in terms of Kreuger & pick/s for this year in a swap for future picks - help Collingwood with points and bank future picks for when we may have a few more off the list

Thats definitely an option..they need extra points for daicos so we could give them that and kreuger for a future 2nd/3rd etc.

After this year's P2 debacle, I wouldn't be surprised to see them totally rule out any future-trading this year.

They are 700 points short of getting a top 3 daicos match and thats before they trade picks for lipinski and kreuger so unless they trade out a player of real value they will have to trade picks in using future picks i just expect them to trade their FR2/3 for this..they wont risk trading their FR1.

sort of Krueger and a P2 (P36-P38) for a Fr2? I think they are around 700 points short? I doubt they will want to go into debt and affect next year.

If we are expecting a lot of players to drop of the list next year an extra pick in the 20's would be handy.

Thats what i was thinking say 34 and kreuger for a future 2nd if theyd do it.

Seriously? He looked great when he played 2-3 goals a game. We just need to move the ball quicker and he will kick heaps of goals for us.
We must be watching a different person - the bloke I was watching could hardly run or jump off the ground.. Laying a tackle looked like it was out of the question as well.

Unlike last year, in 2022 its reasonable to expect that Collingwood would be bottom4, they will not trade that , and will probably be happy to let DeGouy go and max the comp pick... I suspect they do not let Moore go, that would be a little too aggressive but it's possible. I think they will trade later picks to ensure the Fr1 is not affected by going into debt.

What they want to trade for it is a who knows. Id have thought if Krueger is a threat to us as a PSD, we lose leverage about trading him. I keep hearing player do not like PSD and want to see their current clubs receive something. North V Rich for CCJ for eg. Its a bit silly to my mind, the players did not chose to be draft to their current club, once out of contract why do they have any allegiance but engrained mindset is not always logical. Would Krueger have any real skin in ensuring we get some comp?

I loved tsitas for his leadership when he was with us but his kicking isnt afl standard imo. Id happily have him back for our vfl team though.
Unfortunate for football in Victoria the last 2 years, one thing he said was so fortunate too make the move to WWT - Eagles when he did, otherwise only 1/2 a dozen games last yr and bout the same this yr, before covid restrictions made it impossible in Victoria.
Playing in the SANFL for two yrs 1 flag and he's into it up to his eye balls this week with another GF appearance.
Should be a cracker of game if the second semi was a guide between the bays (Glenelg) and the eagles. Hope you guys in Geelong & Victoria get the opportunity to watch it.

Does anyone remember Darcy MacPherson absolutely towelling us in a preseason game playing through the midfield? Played mainly as a small forward at the Suns, I wonder if we’ll look at him for a mid role.

We all seem to be forgetting that clark has his chances at AFL level after a great pre season campaign, and played average football.. He didnt hold his spot or deserve it. He lost it due to poor form. People seem to forget this

I agree that his form this year wasn’t great and he didn’t warrant a spot in the team.

But I’m looking at the bigger picture - Clark’s still 20 years old, been in the system three years, had a great debut season and an injury ravaged second season. Two of his three seasons have been COVID impacted (including reduced lower level football) which would be particularly hard for a kid living on the other side of the country to his family.

I think he’s shown more than enough than he’s capable at AFL level and more importantly his attributes are exactly our fans are crying out for - pace, long direct kicking, a bit of excitement.

Unless there are circumstances we don’t know about, on face value it seems bizarre to be to trade out a talented 20 year old when we are talking about rejuvenating our list.

I agree if we look at the games we have always given Zuthrie (who I thought was good towards the end, but has had some mates along the journey) then it has to be more then not taking your chances when they come your way.

Just seems so strange the scarlo rumours of refusal and Joel having him over weekly…

It could be the FIGJAM element mentioned in earlier posts. He is said to be unpopular amongst his peers.

Clark also looks so much better when the ball's in front of him or he has a bit of space to receive the ball on half back. Never looked like he knew how to play wing or half forward. Toughness or whatever may well be a knock on him as a defender but he looks like he knows how to play that role.

Exactly. You look at someone like Atkins who has a spot on our HBF - Atkins is more consistent and presumably more professional off the field right now (he’s also 5 years older). But does anybody think Atkins has a higher ceiling than Clark? Surely not.

There are the rumours that he had a falling out with Scarlett, but based on social media he seems tight with players like Ratugolea, Parfitt and Close.

Well colour me surprised that so many people think that Clark is worth higher than 27.

On the flipside, imagine how this forum would discuss giving up a higher pick than 30 for a player from another team who was continually overlooked for senior promotion.

Ceiling means nothing if you don't have the work ethic. If he's going to pull the pin and head back to WA after just three years then he doesn't have the fortitude to get close to any ceiling.

I'd think if the club were laying out a 4 yr deal on someone they had targeted 2 offseasons in a row that they must be pretty high on the player to be honest. We typically don't go after players that are in contract though

To be honest, if the rumours are true that Scarlett said he refused to ever play Clark in ‘his’ backline, I don’t blame Clark for wanting out. That’s a disgraceful way to treat a talented young player IMO and reflects very poorly on Scarlett’s people management skills (note: if true, as we only have media scuttlebutt right now).

Clubs like Richmond and now Melbourne talk about creating loving, supportive environments where even players outside the best 22 feel valued and have a clear understanding of what they need to do to get into the team. If we have treated Clark the way has been reported, it’s couldn’t be any further from the way the recent flag winners operate.

It is true. Heard more about Scarlett last night. "Thrives on intimidation" was the expression used to describe him. Your typical bully. Was a polarising figure at the club. Glad he's gone.

I'd let Clark go for p27. We could easily find someone in this draft to play VFL and be an emergency every now and then, which is all Clark is doing now. We could potentially package picks to move up the order and get someone like Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera who would arguably offer more than Clark:

Player focus

A projected first round choice, the son of Terry Milera and nephew of Gavin Wanganeen, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera played a key role for Glenelg in their 14-point win against Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL Reserves. With the win, Glenelg advance to the Grand Final, while Woodville-West Torrens will have to play Central Districts on Saturday for the second Grand Final spot.
AFL on ESPN

The premier outside player in this draft, Wanganeen-Milera has earned a reputation for his precision kicking and his diverse range of tricks with ball in hand. Possessing rare agility, Wanganeen-Milera displayed dancing feet, changed direction at will, speed around players and an ability to wrong foot them to give himself more time and space to dispose of the ball effectively.

Just as impressive was his one-touch ground ball pickups, swooping down to pick up the ball smoothly and with quick hands, swiftly and reliably handballing to a target or taking on the game himself with his run.

Securing 16 disposals there was a feeling whenever Wanganeen-Milera had the ball in his hands he would make something happen. Often in the win, Wanganeen-Milera's offensive involvements led to goals, whether he directly assisted on the goal or started a sequence of possessions that would lead to a goal.

While Wanganeen-Milera has been consistent in the SANFL Reserves, not dropping below 13 disposals in any of his 12 games, his standing as a first-round prospect became apparent in South Australia's match against Western Australia. While South Australia lost badly, Wanganeen-Milera washis side's clear standout, influencing offensively when no one else could. He has looked a class above at all levels he has played this year with his creativity, ball use and movement.

With similar capabilities and talent to Shane Edwards, there are high hopes of Wanganeen-Milera given his talent and football pedigree.
