We did it! The 10th birthday of Mitch Duncan being speculated to go home! :D
Duncan will play here til the end of an illustrious career. Menegola could leave without making a massive dent. Constable would get 3 times as much ball in a final and Stephens to come through.
Would enable us to play the kids, keep them at the club and develop them moving forward. And I'm a menegola fan

I honestly dont know why we do this to ourselves every year, its always the same, we hype up who we should select with our selections and then come draft night we are all left completely deflated and confused because everyone we talk up has either been bypassed by us (sometimes twice) in place of some unknown, i get the feeling Wells doesnt read big footy!!!

Unless Constable is taking an outside role, Menegola isn't keeping him out of the team - and considering Menegola picked up 22, 29 & 20 disposals in our 3 finals this year, I'd be surprised if Constable got close to matching that if playing the same role as Sam

Is this a piss take or do you genuinely just not have a clue? I can't tell anymore with half the rubbish you read on here

Got quite a bit of those posessions in junk time though

Agree with that, but I'm simply pointing to our future without disrupting the team too much, also reducing average age of squad.

If menegola was traded holmes or even stephens or simpson would get a spot...CC isnt getting anyones spot.

Menegola is under appreciated around here.

He has his frustrating moments - in previous seasons he came across as too selfish in front of goal, but this year he seemed to go the opposite path and almost not selfish enough at times when he was in a good position to take the shot himself

I think one of his "problems" or maybe more public perception problem is that as he isn't an excessively quick player, which means that he can look like he's just jogging or taking it easy at times but that under sells him and his value to the team. Other than the odd time around goal where he's held onto the ball for too often, I don't recall him getting caught too many times around the ground

Not a piss take.
As I said I like Menegola, but we need to find ways to change things up.
I could have talked of others too, but someone around the club needs to freshen the list up without massive cracks appearing

And THAT'S why the Cats have stalled. Silly Wells, we have all of the answers on here and are so consistent with them

Losing Menegola to bring in Constable would cause disruption to the team though as you're losing an outside player for a purely inside player and would still need to shift players around to accommodate the inclusion of Constable

The easy in for Constable should have been our clash with Collingwood when we were missing Dangerfield, O'Connor, Duncan, Guthrie & Blicavs - but the fact second gamer Holmes & even Higgins were preferred as options in the centre should be telling for where Constable sits in the pecking order

Strikes me as quite introverted (I may be wrong of course) which makes him not so sure of himself. He is super skilled and puts in though I have no doubts on that.

I always thought he was a chance when Joel finished up.
People here are so down on a young guy smashing it in the vfl and getting quite a bit of hard ball in the afl
Understand his flaws, but the aging players are also developing flaws.
Kids need a shot

You calling him "the barometer"? :D

Nope, article from the club website did though 😎

All Eyes On… The Barometer
It’s fast becoming a football cliché’ but there’s no denying that this game will be won or lost in the middle of the ground. While the Demons’ on-ball division is enjoying some well-earned time in the sun, even without a hamstrung Brandan Parfitt, the Cats remain deep and dangerous, especially with a fully fit Mitch Duncan looking likely to spend some extra time around the footy on Friday.

Both sides sit around the top of the table when it comes to the contested ball and ultimately win the game when they take the honours in that department – the Cats are 17-2 when they outduel their opposite numbers in the contest and Melbourne have only lost the count four times this season. Both sides fought to a standstill back in Round 23 at 140 apiece.

While all eyes will likely be trained on the likes of Selwood, Petracca, Dangerfield, and Oliver, don’t underestimate Sam Menegola who has proven to be a barometer for Geelong as this season has gone on. Menegola picks up an average of 24.4 touches in Cats victories and 20.8 in losses. Generally, when he plays well, the Cats win.

This week, his ability to transition, get back to support the back six, and then generate forward thrusts will be crucial to Geelong’s chances. And doesn’t the local boy love Optus Stadium? His 24 disposals per game average at the Burswood bowl is second only to his output at Docklands.

There’s no place like home, it seems.

If you take out the last two years every team goes down. Geelong still ranks 2nd on games per DVI. I think it shows we have done well with the picks we have had but the problem is the picks aren’t good enough.

On the bold I think we'd be effected disproportionately more then most other teams.

The more I think about it DVI per games is a stronger indication of a weak draft hand then it is about doing well with picks. There will be little variation in games played between total games played by picks between teams (Table please)

Our results speak for themselves we've done well with our trades and recruitment. The value we got from Stewart, Menegola, Kelly, Tuohy, Rohan and co has been phenomenal.
