Everyone has a price. And unfortunately what comes around, goes around. Whether it be this year or next.

I agree im just saying we are putting the ground work in to get him in 12 months like they did with sav last year. They wont release him now like we didnt release sav last year.

That’s probably the most likely scenario though if Lord comes out tomorrow requesting a trade then everything changes. If we offered him a 5 year deal that could be very tempting for the young guy..

Sav was once basically the same promising young key forward, all the way down to a 3 goal finals performance against the reigning premiers.
They're the same player at a different age to me. Huge ceilings and very low floors.

Both players who are going to need elite coaching to polish some rough edges about their games.

Lord is under contract. Whether we like it or not he will command more for a trade than if he wasn’t. I really find him hard to value regardless. If he had flopped against Bris then he’d be not even talked about.

I’m told we passed as his preference was not to get to Geelong. And he was very clear when interviewed.

People change their minds but sounds like he was clear on that not too long ago.

Not discrediting your information, but don't you think it would be a little weird to go public that we want him if he's already said no? He has to at least be open to the idea.

Plus, we know how much BigFooty loves the Instagram following. I present this, ladies & gentlemen:

I wouldn't be that keen on Lord. I just don't think he's that great. I'd back Neale ahead of him and with Foster developing too we aren't desperate for a developing key forward with obvious weakness.

Obviously if a gun kid falls in your lap at the draft you take them but I don't think Lord is that.

He was drafted the year we traded in Cameron. He was probably just looking to get to a side where he would get a game

Yeah, we're probably just shaking the tree a bit.

We probably went to lord the other week and just said "look if you just pretend to be half interested the chatter probably adds years and dollars to your contract. If they don't pay up then we will next year"

Based on what I’ve been told about Lord (for some time) he’s got no intention of playing for Geelong.

Don’t be seduced by the family connection.

Im biased - because id love to have him at Geel - i think what hes got - athletic/football capabilities - hes one of those rare players - who could rocket - dramatically improve in the next 12-18 mths

So because of that mate - im taking the glass half full approach - and your bolded post - well ive got to take the half glass empty approach to that - alah - look fellow posters Max Holmes is a stone cold certainty to play in the 22 GF - and look fellow posters Round 1 in 23 against Coll - it is a certainty that they will rest Holmes and not risk him

So no offence but i hope you - or your info on Lord is way off the mark

True that.

Telling him there's a full forward spot in a year's time for a decade if he's good enough is a much better sell than where we were in 2020.

If it doesn't work out then whatever. We're trading Esava Ratugolea for christ's sake, we're not going to be getting a perfect player in return.

His grandfather severed connections with the club some 20 years ago.

(see the above post).

Well weren't the family dirty Alistair wasn't in the team of the century?
He got half his votes because the umpires couldn't tell him apart from his identical twin Stewart. Nos 4 and 6 looked similar on their jumpers as well.

So folklore tells us.

North have picks 15,17,18 what would it take for us to get that trifecta?
Pick 8 and the pick from port?
I know having a top 10 pick gives us a great chance to get a good player. But having 3 goes at the first round would very exciting.
Could give us some good options to add to our list and we do have list spots.

He knew he wasn’t a chance getting a game with Hawk and Jez there.

Writing is on the wall now, Jez is over 30 and Hawk is on the verge of retirement. Perfect opportunity for the next gen to step in.

Now he’s gotten his reps, I’m sure he’d be happy to come Home. Whatever feelings he may have had before, I doubt he feels the same way now. Especially if Cats throw multi year deal at him.

Good mates with Tanner too by all reports, both Geelong Grammar boys.

It's a bit different when Chris Scott and Co are coming to your house and saying 'we rate you highly' and want you to be apart of the deal too.

CatToTheFuture I believe it was you whos posted about the importance of team chemistry and how a large number of our young players were teammates as juniors?
