It’s a no from me for that pick exchange.

On draft night they end up 20, 22 and 23. I wouldn't take all 3 of them for 8. We can develop young players from anywhere. We need potential elite young players which you are way more likely to find at 8 than the kind of picks we have had for the last 10 years and struck out with Smedts, Lang, Stephens etc.

Cornesy funny… said Chris Scott thinks esava is Glenn Jakovich…. Haha…
Mackie knocked back 24…. Haha
Hawks could get him for nothing in pre season…. Fair enough!

A lot of it can be pure coincidence too.

Does anybody remember Tom Browne a couple years ago? Said that Riewoldt had had scans and was out for an extended period.

Jack chirps back, saying 'You must have a time machine Tom, or you're making it up, as I haven't even had the scans yet'.

Funnily enough, Tom actually ended up being right just by pure coincidence with a hit in hope.

I've got no insider knowledge, but I hereby declare with certainty that Marcus Bontempelli is trying to get to the Cats.

May not happen, but watch this space. Trust me guys, I wouldn't lie to you!!!

This. So much this. I've literally done that 4 times this year, and somehow stumbled across the correct answer. Sometimes it's not even intel, just process of elimination/logic.

At the end of the day, no-one knows anything for absolute certain. Even the Hawks insider who all the Hawfies froth over when he says something, barely ever gets anything right. Has said multiple times that guys like Cogs and McKay are absolute certainties - and then just gets it completely wrong. Listed Gresham, L. Henry, Sav, McKay and Smith as all being in the works this trade period - and none of them came. All they've ended up with is D'Ambrozio and Chol.

There's a couple on here who usually have reliable intel when they go early on someone. As a whole though, things change very quickly and none of us are truly to know what the eventual outcome will be. I guess that's all part of the fun hey?

CC can't be bothered being interested in the draft as it gives him even more chance to be wrong yet again.

He likes the simple stuff. Like a kid in a candy store.

Reads Robbo's top 50

CC: "I want him!!!"

Everyone else: "Well, he's contracted and the club want us to bring in young talent through the draft this year, how do you see us getting him?"

CC: "Don't care!!! We are a ruthless club!!! Get him!! Win at all costs!!! Burn the club to the ground if there's no premiership!!!"
Reactionary…..I was wrong about cats season being done after round 3 if we lost to GC too…. Keep trying to get those likes… oh lord

Yeah they have been traded out , but I thought those two assistance picks were to be up for consideration at the end of next year….? Gee whiz talk about overs for assistance……
Can I just say if there was an award for most improved poster on Bigfooty you'd take out the award this year with similar ease to Max Holmes in the GF sprint. Your posts are like chalk and cheese compared to a few months ago and given the amount of flack you copped back then it is a credit to you.

No I'm saying the 10th best kid in this draft is probably as good as the 10th best player in a typical draft. But the 15th best kid in this draft is probably as good as the 25th best player in a typical draft.

Given bids you'll need pick 8 to get the 10th best player so this is still a very valuable pick. But you'll probably need pick 12 to get the 15th best player so pick 12 is nowhere near as valuable as a "normal" pick 12.

It's why we're not keen on Port's pick 23 for Esava. If you think about it as more like a pick 40 because of this draft's lack of depth it doesn't seem like a great deal.
Thanks for explaining that!

You’re a very good judge…flack for being honest. Yeah funny isn’t it..The amount of messages I got from opposition fans supporting me was pretty cool too!

Swans identified mid experience and go and make it happen with Tay Adams & Grundy…. Cats are the home viewers this season… not a destination club it would seem since our slide south down the ladder…. Fair enough I guess..
Not a destination club for who though?
We usually get who we REALLY want, and don't you think we were active enough 12m ago with OH, Bruhn, Clark and Bowes?
We don't have to be active EVERY year in farm week, just because some players are disgruntled and leaving.
If we get natural progression next year out of OH, Bruhn, Bowes, Clark, Knevitt, Conway, Neal, AND Kroeger, I'll be very happy.

I'm loving that group, it's all coming together and from what we can see from the outside they've already got a bond that clubs pay 'Leading teams' to acquire.

Hopefully one 'R Sanders' is joining that crew in a month's time. Might want to get used to hearing that name.
It really is such nice bunch of kids. And one of the wildcards is Neale. Just an infectious character. He may not be ready yet, but just gotta give him time as he will become better just by being around his mates.

Check the tipping winner of the cats board…. A few more than one! You just get counting on those pre season training days again ….

You can be honest, nobody's ever had a problem with that. We're all honest.

Your problem is that you're wrong....and it's a regular occurrence.
Ok I take it all back.. i do think you're improving in the way you communicate your opinions but you still are very adept at rubbing people up the wrong way. Maybe aim for most improved in 2024 lol.. serves me right for wanting to give a little positive feedback amongst all the negativity.

Honestly, I reckon CC would be a lot more popular if he just added 'IMO' to a lot of his posts.

It sounds like a small thing, and posters will still disagree, but if it's his opinion he's entitled to that. No dramas.

What he does now is so forthright in it's delivery, not dissimilar to another CC who once roamed this board. It makes it come across as trolling to many, and is much more likely to get you in trouble with the mods particularly when it's so consistent.

For instance, something like this:

"We have to beat Gold Coast this week, or the season is over IMO" appears much more reasonable than something like this:

"We have to beat Gold Coast, this club is a complacent joke!! Season over!!"

would like a trade to get done so we can talk about something other than who does/doesn't have inside info; who is/isn't a good poster.

would settle for trading in an absolute D grader for a future 4th at this stage, just so there's something to discuss
You new here? We won a flag by a landslide, supposedly won trade week and this stuff was still happening.

There's the delisted Tim O'Brien but I'm hearing Mackie is trying to get Smith thrown in as a bonus. Talks have stalled at present.

Yeah you're not wrong mate, I mean it is hard trying to communicate to strangers without the benefit of being able to hear tone and read face and body language so a little IMO or even just a softening of language goes a hell of a long way. I just hate when posters pile on someone, regardless if they're opinion/tone/delivery irks them. Feels like playground shit you know? But none of this has anything to do with trading so I'm going to STFU now lol

Big question is though does anyone actually think that Port will roll over and give us Lord, i personally dont see it happening, from all reports they rate him very highly at Port.
They have to rate him highly. Once Charlie goes all they have is a tall flanker in Marshall.

Anything we say in this forum is our opinion though... unless its a direct quote. Maybe we should all just preface each others posts with IMO in our heads.

As a fun exercise, and given the rumoured reports of a shallower draft than most expected, these are the 40 or so kids I reckon are most likely to be drafted (in no particular order)

H. Reid
Walter
McKercher
Z. Duursma
E. Read
N. Watson
Sanders
Rogers
McCabe
C. O'Sullivan
N. Caddy
Curtin
D. Wilson
Windsor
O. Murphy
J. Croft
Schoenmaker
G. Stevens
C. Edwards
M. Edwards
W. Green
W. Graham
Lual
Hastie
Zakostelsky
Moir
Leake
A. Reid
A. Roberts
Collard
T. Jiath
DeMattia
Hardemann
A. O'Driscoll
C. Cleary
DeLean
Mannagh
Callinan
Freijah
Lorenz
Gothard

Gets really scrappy at some points, and I can see just how poor a pick 24 would seem in such a shallow draft. Probably some I've missed, but all in all, there's probably 15 or so names outside of the 'elite' players, that I'm really interested in.

Essentially, of those available to us, this is how I have them ranked:

ELITE

1. H. Reid
2. McKercher
3. Sanders
4. Curtin
5. Z. Duursma
6. N. Watson
7. C. O'Sullivan
8. N. Caddy
9. D. Wilson

Solid enough to pick with a non top-end pick

1. O. Murphy
2. C. Edwards
3. Schoenmaker
4. Windsor
5. Collard
6. Zakostelsky
7. Leake
8. Hardemann
9. G. Stevens
10. DeMattia
11. A. Roberts
12. Hastie
13. A. O'Driscol
14. T. Jiath
15. Lual

**************

So for mine, we realistically have a chance of getting maybe 1 of those near the end like Hastie or G. Stevens, with the Sav pick. Can see why they want more when viewing it like that. Who knows, may actually only end up being 40 or so this year looking at the names available after the 40 listed.

That list demonstrates why I think we should hold pick 8 unless perhaps we get an opportunity to trade for a FF from a club that will likely finish in the bottom 8 next year plus a pick in the 20's. Trading down in this draft means we will miss out on the elite talent.

In other words take the best player in that top 9 available to us plus a player such as Hastie, Roberts, ZZ or Stevens with the Ratagolea pick 24.

Or Take 2 from the above list and carry a FF into next year.

Back to Sav. Seems that everyone in the world bar Mackie and co think 24 is more than enough for him

The deal will get done for 24 and maybe a swap of steak knives. It is all posturing. Six days to go...
