I've already posted an example with players from virtually every draft from 2001 onwards.

There's always quality, don't get sucked into every buzzword they use.

Remember, this time last year 2022 was weak and 2023 was the draft to go hard in. Fast forward to now, and it's the same story again for 2024.

I don't remember people talking down the 2022 draft at all. Certainly not close to the extent that this one is being talked down.

From memory 2020 and 2021 had issues due to covid but 2021 was thought of as pretty deep pretty due to players not being picked up in 2020. 2022 was a pretty standard draft. And this one is decent up the top end and then falls off a cliff.

Really Hope that’s true. For reference, Ports 4th rounder is 76. If any of this is true Mackie is a joke right now, and would be the laughing stock to other clubs.
I'm sure Mackie can point to the trade period last year coming off a premiership and then laugh back.

Surely you're not that entitled that you expect to dominate the off-season every year.

Not sure why people think Mackie is going rogue here and just doing what he wants.

These decisions are far broader than just one person and it would involve coach, CEO and others within the football department. Mackie is charged with negotiating and getting the best outcome but that's based on a club strategy position - not a Mackie position. Not sure why people don't quite understand that?

And for a simple summary of the last 200 pages on this thread...................

  • People getting Salty because Esava was being picked to play in our AFL side and saying he's a liability
  • Same people now saying he's worth better than pick 25

MMMMM Okay

Ohhh I thought you meant someone legit.

Like Kick It To Scoops. He would have the inside scoop!
Twomey wouldn't know unless it's draft related. He's a geek that was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. I doubt if he’s ever kicked a footy.

1. No
2. More than 25 based on this years moves so far

That being said, I'd also happily take nothing and see what happens tomorrow- he either stays or finds his way to a club that was unwilling to make a deal for 2 years straight.

Whatever our list management strategy is today (which really could be to not help Port who are in their window), those at the club know better than any of us. And I can bet they're not getting in their feelings over it all.
Those answers are incongruent, in my opinion.

If we take nothing, he likely ends up at Port via the draft.

And the idea our list strategy is to not help Port seems far fetched, especially when it involves hindering ourselves in the process (whichever way you spin it, 25 is better than nothing). Our list strategy is surely to improve relative to all 17 other clubs, not try and screw over a single club.

We all should, we came out asking for a first rounder or Ollie Lord and end up taking pick 25 because Port just went and traded everything else they had away and you think that's ok? Why shouldnt every other club do the same from now on? Oh that uncontracted star wants to come to us next year, oh well we just traded away everything else we had so here's pick 30 for Nick Daicos.

I dont think Mackie had any info last year, instead they hoped Sav would stay or that he would play so well his value was undeniable. Instead we are here, in the same spot we wouldve been last year, but now Sav is out of contract so all we can do is beg.

Why wasnt Sav signed to a longer deal in 2021, so he'd be a free agent when he next came out of contract? If the club had so much belief in him why not lock him away longer to ensure we get something of value should he choose to leave. A 2 year deal for a 22 year old KPP you have so much faith in seems like a contradiction to me to begin with, and has lead us to this point.
In 2021 most Geelong fans thought Sav would have been delisted by now.
