Yep, this is making an appearance here also, and probably getting more useful as the season draws to a close and this discussion ramps up

#94 is just weird.

Interested to see if 74 leapfrogs a few clubs at the end of the draft and gets us in maybe just a few picks earlier than if we didn't get it.

It is probably very minimal but it till can be something that is better than nothing.

Late picks might be points for someone on draft night.

Unless we are planning to carry the junk picks to the draft and trade them to a club that needs bid points on the night (eg hawthorn) then theres literally no point to the trade bc the afl would have allocated us the last 2-3 picks at the end of the draft.

Still makes no sense bc if we dont take 76 and 94 we use for example 8 82 100 and 118 but the last 2 picks come into 54 and 55 (no one will pick past 55). 76 might come into say 53 instead of 54 but its not a gain worth fighting for. Fairly pointless.

The majority of the footy world thinks 25 is fair if not overs for Esava and I agree. Junk picks are inconsequential.

I am an unashamed Esava fan and I can’t make an argument that he’d be best 22 even if he stayed in 2024.

Good luck to him, I’m sure he’ll propel Port from straight sets to a home prelim smashing

I think we all can agree that's a pretty fair deal for Sav. His best is clearly good enough but he's still a work in progress, hence why he was in and out when we had most of our premiership winning defenders available.

Definitely hoping for a better set of steak knives but the Soldo deal killed that.

The only thing that makes sense here is that early in trade week Mackie said our recruiters had been scouting for options late in the draft. Now we have 8, 25, 76, 87 & 94. Those last three picks will all be around pick 50 on draft night.

I've got a feeling that's where most of the scouts homework has been this year. Potentially a few candidates we now rate where other scouts have no idea.

Yeah, I cannot understand people so quickly forgetting last years haul.

And this year we had nothing to lose. A player outside our best 22 wanted to be somewhere else, even if Mack was just kicking up his feet having a giggle, I dont understand the meltdown over the deal being done so late.

Disappointed we caved. I would have wanted the fr2 richmond got and nor 25 because i dont rate this draft.
Unless we have some other trade planned i dont see the point of picks 76 and 94 as we had picks in the 80s/100s that will come into the 50s anyway and i doubt we use more than 3-4 picks so those are picks we wont use unless we are ontrading them.

As it stands we have 33 on the main list, so we have to add a minimum of three players at the draft, maximum of five. The only thing this trade has done is move our third pick forward 11 selections - though most of the selections in between 76 & 87 will probably be passes anyway.
