With Petty looking at a move back home and Van Rooyen likely to be a target for the WA based clubs, Caddy looks a good fit.

Dogs seem to be into Sanders which will likely leave us with either Curtin or O’Sullivan as options. Suggest we would likely try to trade down if that’s the case albeit that either would be good gets.

If Dogs want Sanders and Dees want Caddy, we might have Wizard available at our pick.

I'm a bit worried about O'Sullivan. I did really like him early but fear he could be the Fischer McAsey/Griffin Logue/Jarrod Brander type that was a man vs kids at the Champs. If he's all that's left of the 'top 8' by our pick, I'd prefer to trade back or into next year's draft. I'd rather take someone in the mid-teens like Wilson or Tholstrup, and have another pick to play with.
i always worry about the really big guys for exactly the reason you say, but if we ignore the body work and contested marks that his size allows him, I am still seeing a very nice kick and great vision.

I'd love him, not least because he also seems like someone who might play forward and back.

I feel like the top 10 order of the draft significantly changes if North get Pick 1 as it would hopefully (and probably more likely) leave Sanders for us.

Say North Get 1 and lose one of 2/3 (along with other picks), then you'd think Curtin goes to WCE with one of those which just bumps everyone down a pick.

1. Reid
2. Walter
3. (let's say still with North) - McKercher/Duursma
4. Curtin - WCE

I then think at pick 5 it'll get interesting as Hawks would potentially be able to get either McKercher/Duursma or stick with Watson which would probably have a flow on depending on if the Dogs would then take Watson if he got past etc., Dees might stick with Caddy for KPD then Sanders may fall to us (even if that means jumping up a pick with GWS just to secure him).

Could be completely wrong considering I have no mail to go off and WCE might rather a Duursma or McKercher over Curtin but I think I'd be keen for North to get Pick 1 if WCE do like Curtin that early.

He was between a rock and a hard place, so I don't think there was much more he could have done tbh.

I don't have any issue with the trade - we got about exactly as expected - but it's just amusing watching people posting throughout the saga about how we should have got a first rounder because 25 was worth nothing; we're going to send him to the draft; or that we'd be able to get him to re-sign at a pinch, none of which were ever going to happen.

Particularly funny when the same people who said 25 was worthless then tried to spin getting 94 as justification of Mackie's hard-line stance. Or that 25 may be able to tempt another team into sliding back in the order.

But you're right about the last sentence, this could have been completed in the first hour of trade period.
maybe mackie was holding out because like scotty he was actually trying to convince sav to stay.

That he did.
And yet he was playing in the magoos for the past 2-3 years.
Rhys Stanley 1 Premiership Medal 🥇 Brodie Grundy ZIP
How many VFL games did Grundy play in 21 & 22 just out of curiosity.

If being stuck behind the best ruckman (comfortably) of the last ten years makes him washed up then it is certainly a tough crowd in here these days.

If Geelong handed over a middle of the road pick for him I have no doubt the narrative would be completely different.

This season been a write off for Grundy .
Inj and something with the pies last season there.

I expect him to bounce back ..

I doubt it. Hawks and melb need front half talent and dogs are keen on watson so one of those 3 take him i reckon.
5 % chance sanders gets to us imo but unlikely. Much more likely caddy does unless melb takes him as i dont think gws will. Curtain is the one i think that could either go to north at 3 or if not probably gets all the way to us. Him and osullivan could get to 8. Adelaide need a kpd a lot so i can see them maybe coming for our pick if one of those 2 is there.

Yeah .

He'll do well at the swans imo...
I question if Grundy actually wants to play footy anymore. I also question if he isn’t one of those guys who can only play when everything is on his terms.

He has left 2 situations where his team needed him to play a different role, and if he had been able to do it they were a legit chance to win a flag. In both situations he was either unable or unwilling to change his game for the good of the team.

Buyer beware Sydney.

The hipster wanna be needs to bust a nut ..
Time to put on your big boy 👖 pants

I can tell you all the premiers for the last 10 years…

Can’t remember any of the of the clubs who “won” the free agency / trade period over the past decade!

I doubt there is any correlation between the two - and if there is it would be time delayed at best…
Woods last year had a good trade period…. And then …..

Grundy is a ruckman…. Ask Tommy Hawkins to be a roaming half forward around the 50m arc next year, so we can develop and progress our forward line into the future. Can’t do it…. He is a one position player.

Bloody oath mate.

In 12 months time Aaron Cadman & Bailey Smith could be walking through the doors of Kardinia Park.

Those two things appear far more likely to occur than Clark & Holmes leaving, with both already being shut down. I mean seriously, Holmes has already brought a house!!

Why focus on the negative when it's not even a rumour? It's basically just a guess? We're a great club, with a great culture, who simply do not lose players we want to keep.

It takes extraordinary circumstances like Tim Kelly for it to occur. Esava, despite all of our posturing, I'm not convinced was of that great a value to us.
Where are these rumours come from in Cadman coming to Geelong?
