There's a few red flags on Clark. I'm not convinced he'll live up to the hype and I think he's got to be in the gun as part of a pick / player deal with WCE for Reid or elsewhere if we're targeting a specific big name player. At the moment, I think that's a big part of the problem with him - he probably knows he's under some pressure. Barely getting a regular game with C Guthrie and Bruhn not available - he's a long way back.

His name was used in a recent discussion I had with someone inside the club system, as an example of a young draftee who has an entitled view of life, and expects to just walk into an AFL club and play senior AFL footy on day one. Some kids put their head down and work hard - others just can't deal with having to do the hard work and bide their time.
So Clark has attitude and professionalism problems. Very dissappointing if thats the case. Another poster suggested it and was blasted a little while back.

I'd be blown away if Clark had an attitude problem, considering we would have spent a lot of time with him before drafting him and had a plenty of intel on his mindset.

If he does have one... the guy needs to chill and chill hard, because he is at best a good VFL player and not anywhere near good enough to have any kind of attitude or entitlement.

Likened to Selwood pre-draft... whoever came up with that one needs a spell.

Why would West Coast even entertain Clark as part of a trade?
Right now, he would struggle to get into West Coast's team.

They would want a young stud. Guys like O'Sullivan, Humphries, Dempsey etc.

Been mentioned by a few people in my travels. Not so much the professionalism as he's been working hard on adding some size and strength - just hasn't got there yet. That will come.

Attitude probably the recurring theme. Not so much that he has a bad attitude in general, but more his frustrations at not being picked in the AFL side each week. I'm sure a few senior players will knock that out of him but he needs to just earn the players respect and get to work.

Maybe he's swallowed too much of the hype around the Selwood comparison and thought it would all just happen. Since being drafted he's seen the likes of Bruhn / Smith join the club and then watched on as we tried to land Clayton Oliver last year. Perhaps he see's himself falling back in the pecking order.

Hilarious if true, considering his lack of development (among others) is why we're so desperate for those players in the first place.

Meh

You get given what on offer the other player has to be open to the trade , I doubt it will be Clark but if he said yeah I want to go to WCE the club would do that

Always felt dirty about that.

I've got a long life ahead me, and I'm still immensely confident I'll never see another Joel Selwood at the GFC.

So much of what made him what he was wasn't the physical attributes, but the mental toughness, leadership, and genuine kindness towards others.

Jhye would genuinely have to me 1-in-a-thousand to be anywhere near that...but because he's a local and he's a similar height, we'll just slap that comparison on him.

Was stupid then, and looks dumber now.

I think there'd be a long and orderly line forming to sign up for that.

Reid is a generational talent and immediately makes an impact. Clark might turn out an "ok" player at best and he might even play 200 games - but we're talking chalk and cheese in terms of any comparison. Clark + 2 firsts would be a deal Geelong would do in a heartbeat.

And Clark guarantees himself senior football which I think is a few years off at Geelong - if at all.
Does Clark guarantee himself a senior spot at WCE?? He has shown nothing at AFL level and besides a few posters who get on their high horses anytime you dare criticize a non senior player, the majority agree he hasn’t developed much since arriving. His trajectory has been limited.

I doubt WCE even wants him in a Reid deal at all

We're allowed to dream aren't we?

We'll want is 2x R1's and Clark.
They'll want 3x R1's and Humphries.

Meet in the middle, probably ends up being 3x R1's and someone like Clark, with a R3 or R2 coming back.
I think they will go stupid and ask for someone like holmes or osullivan. They won’t get it, but they will posture and try to pry out an elite kid

FWIW
Put a line through him....
JHYE CLARK
I spewed when Humphrey was taken before us then was kinda hoping we traded it for a future 1st.
Never saw anything in his tapes to indicate anything remotely similar to Joel Selwood... and please just someone please SHOOT that bastard that used that term of Joel Selwood characteristics similarities in comparing him to the great man.
After all looking back with the HarryHindSight pants on...the draft in 2022 was like a Ballarat Potato farm.
Full of SPUDS.
Pontiac Chat Sebago Dutch Creams etc etc...
Unfortunately Jack Bowes is the best thing we got outta that draft.
A costly whiff IMO.

They will, but that'll be a day one of trade period thing. It's always just bullshit tough talk until the second week.

I mean, the Giants asked for Sav and Parfitt in the Cameron deal and we still said no, so it tells you where we sit with these things.

In hindsight, might not have been a bad idea to do that to be honest, but there's probably some butterfly effect out there where it worked out perfectly.

A Richmond supporter told me Steve Hocking was instrumental in the Kennedy assassination, so we should have someone on standby.

What's Lee Harvey Oswald up to these days? Surely he's available?

Would be shifter Sheehan with the positive comparison.

I think we need to ban Wellsy from taking Falcons in the first round.

Been a sick ride since Bartel. Smedts, Lang, Stephens, Clark. Ouch.
Should let them go to interstate clubs and take somebody else.

If they're any good, we'll probably get them back eventually.

Clark and his family have never been Geelong supporters either, despite being from Queenscliff area. One-eyed Pies. Not that it matters, but many locals we recruit at least have always wanted to play in the hoops.

Clark is already about 10 tiers above young Dean
Yes certainly a better player… but Clark’s recruitment has been a loss so far.

Gore’s recruitment turned out to be a positive.

I could argue purely on playing terms that’s Gore’s zero games for us was more beneficial (on field) for the team than Clark’s 20 or so net negative games.
