Just that reports that he wants to come back to Geelong ( media speculation) but you don't see many other times once a player nominates a club, they 99% of the time let them go

Not sure you'd be doing that when you're innuendo or are you allowed to live your life unless otherwise. Really miffed as to what the he'll is going on.
Unless they need cap space ..or they want him gone … I cant see why they would let a player go to a competitor..especially .. when its Hawks and Cats. … when they will get zero recompense. Match ( as long as they are happy to keep him for those dollars) … and force a trade …even a R2 is better than nothing.

And the court case might take years so there's no resolution anytime soon. Obviously the players are still going to talk to him that's not unexpected.
Fair enough P_O i thought that would be the case. Anyway we move on and see what the club and lm does.
You need to look at Hawthorns recent past to understand what type of mentality they have in certainly situations.
Hawks gave away O’Meara + Tom Mitchell for unders to open up opportunities for other guys on their list + save some cap room.
Hawks do it a bit differently to most and might very well be getting things in order for a crack at Butters/Reid next year.
Reid and Butters may also appreciate what Hawthorn do in regards to the midfield setup. Not saying Geelong don't do so but we have not been as proactive in securing a legitimate ruckman so our midfielders are always having to adjust on the fly. Injuries have certainly played a part
Butters would be walking into a midfield that has an elite ruckman who would be giving him the best opportunity to succeed at stoppages.
Lyon and King embarrass themselves in every Geelong game (and likely every game). Those two were near the point of orgasm talking about how good Collingwood were last night.
Then when they lost it turns to how BRAVE Collingwood were and how they almost won it against the odds(?!?!?!).

I don't think Smith requires much supervision at all. He's always been a solid trainer who takes his footy seriously.
I maintain that a big chunk of the "issues" Smith had at his previously club were due to the culture of the previous club.
Having the time out and getting to a club that lets him 'be who he is' goes a long way to fixing his 'issues' regardless.
My point on them getting no comp is based on Oscar Allen going there as a FA … so no comp for him.
That works well for both.

The club wont do anything (beyond the fake injury listing and no comment that they have done now) until the court case is done-for legal reasons theres no real other approach they can take.

End of 2027 and nothing will happen until court is done (which i would expect will take the better part of 2 years anyway) for obvious reasons. We might ask for dispensation to make him inactive and have an extra list spot to fill (whether the afl would allow that i dont know) but he will be paid by us and we wont sack him until after the process is complete.

They do but guys like Bailey and Lohmann and Morris (who is coming off his draftee contract but will get big offers in Vic) and a few others will need big increases. No doubt they will get rid of Roberston (finally) and will push a few older types like gardiner lester fort etc into retirement, but will that create enough cap room for Allen? I suppose possibly if they backend it enough. Starcevich's concussions probably help them as he might stay for a 2 year deal now whereas they would have had to match probably 800k elsewhere to keep him if he was healthy.
