Many were saying the same things about us in 2017 or thereabouts. We had the one young superstar in Dangerfield and an ageing list.

They have a bunch of blokes in line for big paydays who are now just exiting their rookie deals whereas most of our blokes are either already signed up on rookie deals or not at that stage where they need a big payday and we have a bunch of retirements coming freeing up even more cap.

Two totally different situations. I honestly can't see them doing much outside of re-signing their own players which....nothing wrong with that as retention is just as important as chasing big fish.

Nah it's all a bit of fun. Part of the emotional rollercoaster of footy season in itself.

I don't think anyone would care if Reid or Butters aren't coming at the end of this year either, provided they're staying at their current clubs. If it doesn't happen at all, then ah well. Shit happens.

As for Worpel, plug and play and an above average footballer in a position of need.

If we've got people whinging about that...perhaps a bit of perspective is required.

Can't land Gyarados every year.

That would really flatten me, although when he realises he is required to handball every possession to Daicos he might realise Bevo isn't so bad

Many were saying the same things about us in 2017 or thereabouts. We had the one young superstar in Dangerfield and an ageing list.

Both then and now we had miles better young talent on our list under 24 than what Collingwood have now. Run the names and it's obvious. Now it's an open year and they may pinch a flag which would be worth it for them but in 3 years they will be in a world of hurt.

One does have to wonder sometimes about the choices made by players. he must have known it was going to be tough to break in.

Id say we need to keep an eye on those northern lists. Gold Coast have got 2 or 3 mids coming in as academy players so probably makes it harder for him...

I see on Gettable today they rate Brisbanes kid Annabel top 5. There is going to be players that just do not get chances when they keep adding talent.

Their VFL side is stacked with AFL level players who will not get a game. Noah Answerth, Will McLaughlin, Archie Smith, Dev Rob, Bruce Reville, Zane Zakostelsky, Shadeau Brain, Jimmy Tunstill. Guys who will not get a look in over Marshall or Annable who have yet to cement themselves in the side or have yet to be drafted.

Guys gonna start realising that the lack of playing time and the bigger offers coming from elsewhere might be too good to turn down.

The others are a drop in the ocean, but might make a difference if they all go at once.

Guthrie signed a four year deal off the back of being a top 3 player at the club in 2021 though.

He'd be on 650k minimum, probably closer to 800k in actuality.

delisted after Cats sticking with him all those years. He actually had a pretty good amount of Goals on return from injury. Was it pretty firey on here? Wouldn't of thought we had anyone better to replace him at the time. And he was only 26.
