Geelong's recruiting team would be negligent if they are not asking themselves that very question right now.

Worpel played two decent finals games so there's something to work with, not sure how he'll go with us, he looks a little slow, not as explosive as a Atkins, we do need another bigger body around the ball tho. What we really need to do is find the next Danger and throw everything at him because 1 player can absolutely have a huge impact on a team. Rowell, Harley or Butters figure out who it is and throw the farm at him.

He was very ordinary. Lacks awareness. And poise. He wouldn’t get a game for us atm.

No one. Clark would be the only option. But Clark was better than him anyway. And has far more potential and talent.

Simpkin is a very good athlete so not sure where this has come from. It's his size and perhaps consistency that is likely the issue

But what would Noth want in return in a trade

My cynical side sort of doubts it. If the bring him in, he will get the golden ticket for the first year. but I cant see who it would be.

Id have thought Clark played with a sign around his neck sayin ..play me and I might get better. The handpass to Mannagh was a hint about what he might offer. It could be argued , that the turnover kicks were also indicative.

If bringing in worpel means one lesser spot for his type then he best make his selection worthwhile


I will say that when you have as many available for selection as we have had, it means several players miss out that might be selectable.. and who knows who will be injured next time...


Im not overly fussed but one can see with the addition of BSmith what a high quality guy can add..so add him or don't add him , its someone like Butters who is more important.

His foot speed, or lack of is often spoken about as a reason why he's found himself on the outer of North's key midfield rotations crew

So not sure how exactly he'd fit into our rotations especially as we seem to value that foot speed

I don't think he is.

He's a 193cm with good endurance and the ability to play both inside and outside. To me it's been pretty clear that he's just not big/strong enough to really impact things.

His first game this season he had 11 tackles and 21 possessions so we've seen glimpses of talent. But to me it's not unreasonable that if he really put some size on (5 -8kgs) he could be a solid midfielder.

Giving him a year indicates Geelong can see it going both ways. Big year in 26 for him.

He’s definitely got something to prove and your right, a 1 year deal indicates they’re lukewarm.

I just think he’s worth a little more time.

That they went with Clark rather Knevit says something. And with the players we will be and are linked to… its not going to get easier.

He plays inside mid. Holmes ends up on a wing or half back and the lowest ranked fringe guy in the 22 gets pushed out (may have been bowes or similar).

I have flip-flopped on Worpel plenty of late.

All I can say is I hope we aren't going to be paying him much.

No pick for him and a lowish wage is acceptable for a seasoned player.

Played more like a DFA tonight than an RFA, but will concede he was solid in the past couple of weeks.

Worpel was easily the best Hawk for pressure points with 69 off only 70% TOG, and had 5 clearances. Next was Moore with 53. For us, Atkins led with 82 points, followed by Blics with 59.

If the Cats are genuine in chasing him, and it isn't simply a case of he's open to a trade so why not, then I trust them completely to know exactly what they want to use him and where he would slot into the team.

With the bench size increasing to 5 players, I expect that inside mdifield rotations will be flatter.

I think the Worpal could be used to protect our prime ball movers thoughout the season but allowing us to reduce our prime movers exposure to those rotations

With SKing going to Melb ..he obvious takes some IP but will he look at a couple of fringe players that he knows?
