All good mate. 100% agreed an A grader like Holmes, Miers, Gulden, Warner, Heeney etc are zero chance of ever happening. Unfortunately, a lot of my fellow Carlton BF cohorts dont agree.

Personally, I think he goes to Sydney. I think that's the likely scenario. He's about a 1% chance of returning to Carlton.

It's going to be something like pick 9, 2026 1st and Hayward/ McLean +steak knives. We absolutely want a future 1st for a F/S Cody Walker bid next year. Then we'll do pick 9 + TDK compo to WC for pick 2 and Chesser and pick swaps to get ahead a of F/S Harry Dean bid this year.

I suspect it'll play out something along those lines.

It will be interesting whether hes prepared to pick his 3rd choice club in Sydney. If he isnt Carlton might be stuck with him for 12 months (i agree they shouldn't accept a Lowball offer).

Also if I was you I wouldn't trade up to 2 i dont see the value in it this year.

Lions essentially got 2 number 1 picks, and top 3-5 pick and a top 5 pick for a big handful of picks in the 20s and 30s.
That's the issue.

They choose well on their picks.
They had their down years now they flying.

But the system not right.

These guys like the Ashcrofts and Nicky D were ready to play from birth.

Took Gaz etc few years to get going.
These topline kids these days come in ready to go.

Find it hilarious West Coast are receiving help from the AFL 7 years after winning a flag, and also already being one of the biggest clubs in the comp. Self inflicted downfall, but that's okay.

High picks teams get .
But you got to use them well.

North passed on the wizard .
For Zane that was a pain .

Being one the biggest is irrelevant when the AFL has a soft cap.
Open it up and let the rich leverage their size. The soft cap hasn't prevented the bigger clubs succeeding as it is anyway.

Do you think that Geelong already had coaches and facilities set up in remote parts of the country where their nga is located?

The northern state teams are heavily subsidised by the afl, so it is the afl’s money anyway.
So set out your plan for the AFL to establish academies in the NT, Queensland, Sydney and wherever else, separate from the clubs in those areas?

Cal Twomey said on Trade Desk (or whatever it’s called) that St Kilda will push for our F1 rather than 2025 first for Marshall.

Of course they will but we wont want to do that given butters etc.

Butters will be a free agent tho right?
Still wouldn't do it.
I seem to remember us trading a 30 year old champion ruck, surplus to requirements, to StK (+ Charlie Gardner) for a 6th round selection.
First round pick is just ridiculous.

Butters will get matched 100 %
King was far more injury prone than marshall different cases. Pick 17 is reasonable but a future 1st is not.

Man if Butters wants to get to us and Port match, I am going to lose it and demand we commence legal action against the league. We've been unnecessarily nice to the crows and giants. Port can seriously gagf.

For a bloke who is one concussion from retirement? That would be ridiculous.
Completely ridiculous, but as Starevich is a FA the trade will be completed to eliminate the need to reduce the compensation WCE receive for Allen leaving

WCE reportedly already pitched that the compensation for Allen shouldn't be diluted by them picking up Starevich as a FA; though it seemingly had been agreed at least in terms of media reports that the compensation Brisbane would have received for losing Starevich would be diluted by them signing Allen... Try explaining that one

This way the AFL can manipulate things enough so that WCE gets pick 2 for losing Allen & can then trade in a FA themselves without losing any of their own picks - a little like when we got that higher compo pick for Motlop joining Port than we probably should have got but it was then on traded to GC to bring Ablett home

I swear they design it this way so you get trade period fatigue before it's even started.

Just make it four days and get it over with. They'll be asking whether we should trade Baz and Holmes for Dick Reynolds corpse by Thursday.
Might've performed better than a few players last week...

Someone should run a parody trade radio account

Rucks don't usually hit peak til late 20s, but he needs consistent games by his mid 20s and building the tank for that happens now. He needs at least 15 consecutive games in the VFL next season or it starts to become a worry.

He is very talented, that game against Brisbane he was excellent, and they should be preparing him to breakout around the age of 25 because if you push rucks too early they end up like Sean Darcy.
Is he building up the areas not injured, like Thilthorpe did? Or is his injury heat map fairly spread out?

I mean, we did drag them over the coals for Pick 94 in the Ratugolea trade.....which we used on Lawson Humphries
