I was so impressed by our midfield against the GC midfield. They are stacked with stars and we have Holmes and players that we have developed into stars (and were missing Smith and Bowes). I’m hoping the club sees this and doesn’t sell the farm for a mid. As good as midfielders are, a key forward wins premierships in my view. Smith, Holmes and Atkins are an elite midfield group now. Atkins has become a gun. The club knows best, but I’m not sure two first rounders etc for a mid is the right call.

Maybe …but thats sort of what Lawson is . I can remember when his dad got moved on to make way for mansfield .. sometimes you have to move someone on.. just to make sure of your push into a younger group.

Yeah that was a shellacking. I'd be looking at the middle and lower ranked SA kids to see who's contributing there.

Mellor kicked 1.3 too. Keeps his spot probably but not enough to have turned recruiters heads for a 2nd round bid so that is working out well.

Do we know where Rongdit is?

Not great for our 'draft the SA country kids' strategy, but possibly helps that WA got up yesterday. Be interesting to see how Metro respond next time out, they seemed to struggle with the conditions and just imploded from midway through the second. Young Holmes looked alright though.

Bookmark it for when we get smoked through the middle in a final. Another elite mid is still #1 priority for me.

Like to hear others opinions. I was a little underwhelmed. Was it SA being god or were VM off their tucker. Maybe the draft is a little unders ..or maybe as it goes on the standard will lift. Some metro guys certainly looked they had been on a dodgy curry or something. I seem to remember last year that the finals game Vic M v C was the best game. Whether it was because it was under the roof or not. I like a couple of the SA kids by foot coming out the backline

Not selected? I really need to see Mellor standout a bit more and see what he can run like. Jury out for mine. The hypen kid , Hibbins-Hargeaves 4, really looked like VC best small forward.

Rowell would take at least 2 x first rounders probably as a starting point. Which would knock us out of a trade for Reid either this year or next.

Stanley wasn't persuaded to play this year, the talk about him being persuaded is all talk..
I think you will find out Stanley would be more then happy to be on our list next season and even playing VFL 70% of the time

I’d be rapt with any of the three mentioned too, but Rowell is a distant third on that list as far as football ability goes for me.

It's probably not a good look but I think it happens more than we think.

Like Hawks met with Allen when WCE was here early on in the year and Stengle and Holmes (apparently) met with Ross Lyon before they signed their respective extensions with us.

We are a quality midfield rotation short, but on 2025 form you would have to say the group of Holmes, Smith, Atkins, Mannagh, Dempsey and Blicavs (wings are an essential component of midfields) are doing very well. Come finals time we will likely unleash Dangerfield through there a bit more as well.

It's just unfortunate that between Bowes, TB, Clark, Knevitt etc circumstances or form haven't been sufficient for them to step up. I do think if we added one more elite player into that mix, our midfield could match it with any in the competition. It is already holding up well.
