Thanks for the reply. Speed is prob something our midfield lacks. So he’d have to be an absolute bull around the contest if he’s going to fit in.

Worst case scenario hes will brodie who doesn't have the running ability for afl. Best case scenario is a Josh Kennedy type. The game is so much faster now i have my doubts he can make it but he wont die wondering his will to make it is awesome.

I wonder what the timeline is with Tanner. If he is innocent you would hope the club would stand by him.

Given some of the stuff that came out at the last hearing it's pretty obvious it will be contested and there won't be an outcome until next year at the earliest id say.

High profile, high cost players moving takes 12-24 months of effort/working in advance… see Dangerfield, Cameron, Smith.
High profile, high cost players (often past their best) coming and knocking on Geelong’s door a few months/weeks before trade period… see Deledio, Oliver, Curnow… don’t get done.

This, Curnow already has shot knees, I’d rather back in Max, Shannon and Co for the next decade than trade in a past their best Curnow.

Carlton can live with the disaster they created.

Will Kingy be poaching any of our fringe players over to the Demons? Ted Clohesy comes to mind.
If he could take any young player with him then I'd put money on him wanting Clark - based on an article from yesterday, King is the one was has been pushing hard to find a spot in the seniors for him

Also that we don't tend to go for players who are in-contract (for obvious reasons, given our shitty draft hand each year).

If every afl player has to have some sort of weapon ..id say GS is inside clearance and kicking ability, the negative is he may not cover the ground as well as some other players. Its a matter of seeing if the pros out weight the cons. .. and balancing the cost against what you may be able to get for that pick.

he has already been linked to talking to Flanders who he coach while at Gold Coast …so once our season is over , and he official puts on the blue and red, id expect him to be talking to several players.

They have the G as a home ground which is an advantage but a long term issue with Melb recruitment I feel though is their lack of a proper training facility is ridiculous. how they have let that go for so long is strange. Funny how their flag they won was when everyones off field was affected due to covid. I wonder if they will ever get their racecourse thing of the ground.

pretty hard in this day and age with social attitudinal changes and the implementation and integration of a more diverse playing group and groups … to see a situation occurring like with saints and probably other teams in the past. ie.. players playing on irrelevant of off field allegations Going by the “Stuff” alluded to , it will be hard to wash the mud off no matter the result in the courts and therefore difficult to see a return to, what was, a promising future.

We can't afford to lose both Ted Clohesy and George Stevens at the same time...we must keep both or lose only one? Other clubs are circling!
I think if we're relying on retaining both Stevens and Clohesy to successfully navigate our way through next season then we're in a bit of strife. Both are surplus to needs.

Clohesy goes and Worpel comes in - significant net win to Geelong
Stevens goes and XXXXX comes in - most likely a net win to Geelong

The club needs to turn over a minimum number of list spots. If Knevitt and Stanley just signed extensions I think it just about guarantees one or both of Stevens / Clohesy is gone. Add to that the stuff swirling around about Curnow / Marshall + the new draftees........and it's not looking good for the two you mentioned.

Bruhn a bit of an unknow obviously.

It's so weird that people haven't worked out yet that Geelong (and probably most clubs) aren't going to trade not just starting 22, but top 10-12 players in the team.

As good as our other smalls are, Stengle is probably our best from a pure SF perspective.

We won't even entertain that option for a second.

But the media etc. will continue to be dumber than doornails.

To me Stengle would be an interesting one as he does fall in the category of players that Geelong fall out of love with. He is also exactly what Carlton need. He got the big pay bump and he hasn't really justified it across the season, ableit a great game against the Hawks. Guys with bigger contracts than output quietly disappear from the club. Caddy, Motlop, Varcoe. Stengle and picks I could live with to be honest. Much easier to find another small forward than an SDK type.

The way i see it the 100% gone list is

Duncan
Guthrie
Bews
Whiltshire

I think we need 2 to 3 more spots

Possibilities are

Isivic
Pike
Clohesy
Stevens

Out f those 4 the 2 i most would like to keep are Clohesy and Stevens

I disagree with this. Genuine goalkicking small forwards are very rare.

Miers and Close are both very good small forwards, but they do not hurt you on the scoreboard. Stengle does, and that's the hardest talent to find in the league.

Mentioned on SEN yesterday... Stengle + F1 for Curnow.

Stengle just what they need + also need points for Walker bid next year.

Curnow to take haircut... Geelong to pay some of Stengle's salary so Carlton get bonus cap relief.

Can't remember who said it, but it felt like an educated comment and not some nuffy calling it in.

No idea if it's even vaguely in the works... but I just reported what I heard as it makes some sense and to me feels one of the only realistic ways to get Curnow + Marshall in at the same time.

I would rather keep Stengle and our future first no way am i trading that unless it is for an area of need e.g elite mid Butters for example

Bruhn is toast as a Cats player which means we should keep one of Clohsey or Stevens. Admittedly we can't do the Curnow deal without trading as we have prioritised Marshall as more important? Worpel comes as a free agent if he decides too move, but we will need to deal to get the other two. My issues are Clohsey is 21 and Stevens is 20. They are both good players who are close to being permanent fixtures in the team, that's playing a dangerous game if they are chasing two blokes who are 29 and 30 yrs old by the start of 2026?
