Unfortunately this manic pressure thing that's winning flags is here to stay for a while IMO.
There won't be another Geelong 07 team to come along and change it like we did against the Swans boredom style of the years previous.
With 18 teams I just don't think they'll be a team skillfull enough to overcome this current phase.
I think teams with a lot of pace that are primed to bring 4qrs of manic pressure in the finals will succeed for a while.

GWS, when they broke their shackles this year blew apart the defensive pressure. So did we, and so did Adelaide.

We made a point of destroying the pressure last year against Western Bulldogs.

Consistency is our issue, not skills or game plan.

It goes back further than the Dogs ..the compression of the players across the field has been happening for a while.. certainly think that had a part to play in why Freo beat us in a couple of finals

Malthouse and Collingwood used the moving zone defence quite well.

Looking for a bright, go-getter type good at taking spreadsheet data and turning it into easy-to-read graphics.
I had a bug up my butt and some time to kill at work, and made a spreadsheet of games played by year for recent premiership players, current list, and in-between years. I've become a little obsessed with the group cohesion of the list and was looking for a way to see how it has evolved and influenced the list. I'd like to pass it on to someone who can make it easier to read before making it available generally.
It is pretty interesting to see how the list has gradually come apart from a fairly solid clump in the late 00s
