Did anuyone see the headlines on afl.com.au this morning?

Geelong is courting Fraser Gherig, and it is a much better deal than StKilda are offering.

Geelong are offering Adam Houlihan and Carl Steinfort in return for Gherig, they are also offering about the same pay as StKilda. He is coming to Geelong today for a medical examination and could quite possibly end up at Catland next season.

It is understood that the StKilda deal still stands, but it is only in principle and could be changed at the last minute.

It is also understood that Collingwood have offered their first pick in the draft to the Eagles (no 3 overall) for his services.

That's bullshit.

If Collingwood had've offered their first pick he would already be at Collingwood.

From what I've been told he doesn't want to go to StKilda full stop. Not sure about Geelong though.

If we wants to come to St Kilda, I will be very happy.

But if he was to come to the saints reluctantly, I would not want him at all.

For the fortune we are supposed to be paying him, I would only want Fraser if he was 100% committed.

In other news, it looks like we will be picking up Lawrence from the lions for a third round draft pick which will be good news IF it eventuates.

How did I know you would say that?

By the way gocatsgo, I read somewhere that we have offered $420,000 a year for him.

Please don't tell me your club is foolish enough to offer more money than that. I can't believe we would contemplate paying him that much money, let alone another club willing to pay more.

If Geelong offerd Houlihan & Steinfort for Gehrig they need their heads read. Steinfort maybe but Houlihan showed signs of being outstanding this year.
Gehrig is an injury prone sook who if held for 15 minutes at the start goes missing. I cannott believe everyone is so high on him.
The only bright side for Geelong would be Gehrigs best 5 games of his career have been against Hawthorn so maybe they theorise that getting him will mwan they can win a close one against Hawthorn.

$420,000 is a lot of money for a player who is inconsistent and injury prone with an apparent bad attitude.

How do you justify the money?

Maybe if he is home with his family he may pick up his game and attitude.

Best wishes to the club who gains his services!!!

He may only play a handful of really good games a year, but if one of those happens to be a GF, or the game that gets you in the finals, or a tight grudge match, he pays for himself.

I wish him luck. Once fit (apparently close) and happy I think he'll be fine, and possibly an awesome player.
