Justin Bieber is successful. That's the fact.

Doesn't mean he is talented, doesn't mean he isn't talented. Doesn't mean his music is good, doesn't mean his music is bad.

If I personally think his music is bad, that is factually correct AND an opinion. The only way it isn't a fact is if I was lying.

I disagree in that I can acknowledge something as good whilst not personally enjoying it. For example I don't enjoy rap music at all, yet I don't automatically say "that's all no good".

But that viewpoint is in itself an opinion. We are way through the looking glass here.
This is where things get wobbly. If you dislike rap music what do you consider good about it? Other people's opinions? Popularity?

You are allowed to dislike things without giving false praise. Like Beiber. My opinion is there is nothing good about him, from his bland generic music to his character and general way he carries himself.

Now here's a thought:
all the negative press, online blogs, posts etc all stem from a female troll (accounts) stirring up shit to man bash

*removes tin foil hat

Already example of this.

Seen this gem?

It went viral, media picked up on it without doing their research as usual before being proved false:

Shows how trigger happy the media is with the sexism accusations.

Gamergate proves both sides of the spectrum are more than capable of doing what you think is tin foil hat realm.
Funny. Check out this Ghostbusters review:

Remake is usually a straight redo of the original. Reboots can have all kinds of changes. They're both the same in that the canon goes in the bin and they exist in their own universe.

Soft reboot - which is what I think this is - are the trend now. They are technically sequels but nothing that happened in the original movie or movies has any bearing on the plot and most or none of the original characters appear. Jurassic World and Star Wars: The Force Awakens come to mind.

Remake: Based on the original movie as its main source material to retell the story. Eg. Conan The Barbarian

Reboot: Based on novel, comic, etc as its main source material. Eg. Burton Batman - Nolan Batman.

Total Recall 2012 is a remaking because its basis is the 1990 film, not the original Philip K Dick story.

Jeff Bridges True Grit is a reboot as its based on the original novel, not the John Wayne film.

Is JJs Star Trek a remake or reboot? Despite the only source material being the TV and movies, I reckon it falls under reboot.

Nolan's batman is neither IMO. A different telling of a story from an already existing texts. Same as every Moby dick or Jesus movie.

Spiderman is definitely a reboot however. Restarting a film franchise of the same story. Same as the planned StarGate reboot which is not a remake.

I don't think the source material matters in the classification.

Yeah it does. No one calls Nolan's Batman a remake of Burton's or Spiderman/Amazing Spiderman/Marvel Spiderman. It's all about where the inspiration for the movie is derived. Reboot from the original source material, remake from the original movie.

Your opinion which is fine. But again, because you don't like something doesn't automatically make it bad.

Amazing.

Anyway, enough with this straw man.

Because you, or anybody else, likes something doesn't automatically make it good either

Soft reboot/remake (confusing due to this being set in a time before the TV series) semi sequel 1st film, sequel is a damn remake of all things Khan.

Amazing Spiderman was different to Spiderman in a lot of ways as does Nolan's Batman include the same story elements as Burtons. What makes one a separate category from the other?

Mostly the fact that Batman had two separate film series run their course, whilst Spiderman was abandonned prematurely and started again in order to establish a new film canon.

Batman was like "lets tell the story this way, and then tell it another way", Spiderman was like "lets tell the story this way... Shit, no, go back and do it again"

Its the vibe of the thing.

Batman 5 was in planning stages before the dud Bat 4, not unlike Spidey 4 before Spidey 3. Warners were always going to do another Batman, they were just lucky they had Nolan for the reboot. I honestly don't see a difference.

I think the vibe comes down to 'reboot' is an ugly word for a superior series of films.

Why is age a factor?

You think lard arse McCarthy looks like she could do anything athletic or even have an intelligent thought?

Maybe you should go back and look at what I was responding to.
