Movie Ghostbusters 3

Why they gave the job to an utter tossbag like Paul Feig to make this movie i'll never know. Nothing he did previously suggested he'd be any good at producing a movie like this.
He's got a pretty good record with comedy.

I'm in the "it's a better trailer than the first" camp but that doesn't mean much. I feel the same way about this as I did Pixels, a mix of meh with one eyebrow raised slightly.

I won't see it at the cinema but I will download it once a Bluray rip is out and will watch it alone on a rainy Saturday afternoon, not immediately but some time before Foxtel shows it. I will probably shake my head a lot but I will also laugh a couple of times and inevitably think, that wasn't as turgid as I expected.

Like Pixels.

Can we not have another thread devolve into a Batman v Superman discussion please.

How many times will you see this? More live posting from it?

This is horrific. No one was wanting a Ghostbusters remake, the first was a great movie, the 2nd one was ok as well.

We didn't need it, we didn't want it.

Yet here we are. I'm still getting over Pointbreak being made. I have never seen it and never will. Why tamper with something so good?

This never happened in the 90's.

Directed a fair few episodes of The Office and Arrested Development. And haven't seen Bridesmaids or Spy, but both got fairly strong reactions that I saw (Letterboxd) and both were nominated for Golden Globes. So yeah I'd say pretty good.

Well, the alias is out of the bag.

a) Maybe just talk about the movie without the snipes? We can talk about this without acting like children. Thank you.
b) The second one was terrible, don't change history.
c) So don't watch it.

He directed a fair amount of the best episodes of Arrested Development and The Office. His movie work leaves a little to be desired though.

I was only talking movies. Been obvious that his tv work shits all over anything he produces big time.

Bridesmaids was shit, Spy wasn't too bad, better than expected.

Bridesmaids and Spy are a million miles away from the style the original Ghostbusters was written and acted.

His take on it looks like a shitty slapstick version of the original.

His take on it is actually in line with Spy and Bridesmaids.

Maybe. That's better than just doing the exact same thing though.

Personally I don't think the original was so good as to need a remake in the first place. But it's the way entertainment's going. Everything's remake or reboots or franchises. The bemusing thing is that this particular movie cops such a vicious reaction for being unnecessary in the same year that we saw Batman's parents get killed for what feels like the hundredth time.

It doesn't need to be made. Lots of things don't need to be made. I just won't see it. Simple.

They ****ed up big time putting McCarthy in this film. I assume she's supposed to be the Ackroyd character in the new group, but unlike Ackroyd of his time she's not funny and all she does is portray fat, annoying idiots in movies.

Disagree with this. I thought her performance in St Vincent was really good, far better than I expected. And there was a bit in the first trailer, when she's possessed or something, and her whole body language changes on a dime. That makes me thinks she's got some tricks. But that's just what I think.

Everything about this film they have ****ed up though.

State it's a reboot then in the first 10 seconds of the first trailer they reference 4 scientists 30 years ago saving the planet.

So the first thing they do to promote the new film is contradict themselves with a false statement that they should have known would be ripped to pieces.

How many people have heard or seen St Vincent?

Every film I've seen she plays the same character. The trailer for GB looks like more of the same.

Given it made $54M at the box office and got a Best Picture and Best Actor (Bill Murray) Golden Globe nominee, I'd say a fair few people saw it.

Bill must have given her some acting pointers.
