It's true, this cast has no dicks.

I'm not so sure about this one, I mean they're just a bunch of guys (or girls in this case) running around catching ghosts in a very simple way.

The first one was good because of Egon's and Ray's absolute geekyness and Venkman's sleeze and the second one cut back on that and suffered because of it, I doubt this one will have any of those aspects. I think of this like "Teen wolf" in that the first was original and without the pressure of expectation the cast had chemistry and the story worked.
I can see McCarthy trying to hard to be loud and outrageous (as she does) and Kristen and Leslie will have tight suits but that's about it, Rick Moranis also added something to the original that is unique and that EPA agent was perfect too.

I'm going to show my age here and say that the song from the original (who you gonna call...GHOSTBUSTERS!!!) View attachment 105901 was also what helped make it a hit, that song was quite big when it came out. I remember when we were little a friend had the cassingle and we played it all the time. :p

Seriously...are they going to beat scenes like this? :D:D:D

But if you feel sad about this movie destroying a happy memory of your childhood, check this out it at least gives you something to hold on to.

I like Nostalgia Critic

I'm so tired of the feminist crap linked to this movie now.

No, I'm not anti it because it's a female cast. I'm anti it because the casting of said women is just so poor.

If this was Ghostbusters for today's generation with Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig and, I dunno, Jillian Bell I'd buy my tickets now.

I've even seen some bring in the race card but for mine the only reason the cast is what it is is because they HAVE to have a black ghostbuster to emulate Ernie Hudson.

This cast is abysmal because those chosen are poor, not because they are women. Right cast, IF we have to have a new Ghostbusters, I don't care who is chosen.

is because they HAVE to have a black ghostbuster to emulate Ernie Hudson.

No, they don't, and that highlights my concerns: that they have some ill-conceived notion that they must follow along with the same template as the original, no matter how forced. It just makes the concept of the all-female cast come across like more of a stunt or gimmick instead of a natural evolution of ideas. L

I look at this cast, and I see straight through to the soulless committee of studio execs behind them, "we have to have the nerdy one, we have to have the messy one, we have to have the sarcastic one, and we have to have the black one, otherwise this whole thing won't work!"

This feels, to me, less like it was cast as a Ghostbusters movie, and more like a 2010 SNL skit.

Sorry mate, was trying to highlight the point you made, not emphasise that they actually needed a black Ghostbuster. Blame tapa.

If they'd just cast all white there would've been a massive backlash though. No win situation.

But where is the latino and asian Ghostbuster?
I mean if they'd gone all white there would've been cries of "they had a black ghostbuster 30 years ago but can't find one now how dare they", and if they cast one then it's just copying the last one. No win situation.

Let's be honest, Winston did f*** all more than stand around in GB1.
There was actually a really interesting interview with him I read recently. I'll try find it. He's actually pretty bitter about the whole thing.

I imagine there is no way that Hudson received the same script that Eddie Murphy would have.

Here it is. Actually feel really sorry for him. Guy got completely and utterly fu**ed over. This is well worth a read for any fans of the originals.

I actually disagree with him on GB1. From a story perspective, I thought it was great how the original 3 were forced to hire more help because they were overwhelmed and implied anyone can go out 'ghostbusting' not just 3 guys with PHDs. Once Winston is introduced he feels just as invested as the rest and even has that last great line to finish the film. An actor doesn't have to be in the whole film to have an impact.

GB2 on the other hand is a different story. He's in the beginning but then disappears for like 30 minutes with no involvement in the pivotal courtroom scene. We know what the other 3 have been up to the past 5 years but no idea with Winston outside of occasional birthday parties. What the **** is up with that? As a result, Winston feels like a tag along for the rest of the picture. He has no side story whatsoever. For all we know he could have been living in a homeless shelter hoping one day the ghosts will come back.
