Am i really that bad of a person for being dissapointed the moment i found out its an all female cast?

The white knights trying to make us all 'equal' have forgotten one thing, in that we arent equal.. Men are biologically different to women and vice versa. Women have their strong points as do men, and as much as I constantly have it drummed into me from just about every media outlet that my view is outdated, i cant help but view this movie as forced and unnatural.

Unnatural? It's about ghosts and the paranormal. And as Catfish pointed out they aren't welding large broadswords and fighting off aliens from beyond the moon. All female cast is fine if they kept to the original scare/comedy format of the original and even made it in the same universe as the original.

Some of my favourite movies include Total Recall, Conan the Barbarian, and Robocop. I haven't seen any of the remakes and don't plan to. This one will go into that same pile.

Why would biological difference matter? Are you saying it's just unbelievable a woman could carry those packs or something?

I actually think an all-male cast would be much worse. Having Seth Rogan or someone trying to reprise Murray's role would be terrible.

A mix would have been perfectly fine.

The problem is Feig has his favourites (not that I would have dropped Wiig).

I would have focused on a cast more known for TV... for example Joel McHale, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jason Bateman...

Or if you were going to dip into the SNL basket go a couple of casts back... a much better film would have had Bill Hader, Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Andy Samberg etc.

Saying that, Kate McKinnon looks like getting a star turn.

As long as Joe Dante and Chris Columbus are involved and it's practical effects there is no reason why a Gremlins 3 couldn't be awesome.

Barring Star Trek and Xmen FC I actually can not stand the Classic reboot formula. Stinks of lack of vision and greed....Ghost Busters was probs my all time fav as a kid and it just seems wrong flipping it this way...

Ya know who would have been a hell of a lot better pick than Melissa McCarthy(imo).

Dawn French. Better actress, better comedian and simply a more expressive funny person. More believable as an academic and without the McCarthy clumsy idiot schtick attached to her.

Dawn French would be stupid to act with any of them, they are way below her level, the majority of female British comedians are funny while female American "comedians" and as boring as crap and not funny at all

So? Perhaps the script of this movie will be better. My point was the script of GB2 was ordinary, but elevated by the talent. Perhaps this script will be better, helped by Wiig and McCarthy who both have pretty decent track records.

Looks to me from the trailers that they are borrowing heavily from the originals...despite saying it's not a sequel...which is laughable as the trailers sells on the nostalgia of the originals

So is it a reboot or a sequel?

It would have been moderately ok as a popcorn flick without the Robocop name. But because it's a reboot of an awesome movie it sucked so much!!

If I was casting I'd have considered for the roles:

Dawn French for Aykroyds role, Ellen Degeneres as Ramis role, Aisha Taylor for Ernie Hudson role. Not sure on the Murray Role. Has to be a dry wit style person, so maybe Jane Lynch.

That combo is far more quirkier than what has been cast and Ghostbusters needs quirky.
