Movie Ghostbusters 3

I don't think they intend to change the cast, just would do a spin off with a different cast set somewhere else I suppose. Would likely crossover.

Probably unlikely now that this movie bombed.

wouldn't you need to establish characters in the first film in order to make a spin off?
the whole premise of a spin off is to say "oh hey, lets look in on these guys over here"
at the very least you need to establish a wider world with things going on in other areas our protagonists are not part of, before you can setup up a spin off.

you can't just make a spin off without setting it up in the first place.

Maybe that's what Hemsworth character is for.

Don't think the cast was the biggest issue with this movie. More the direction and a few weak links. Actually, probably the male actors to be honest. If they do a sequel, Hemsworth character should be toned down. A stronger villain would be good. Was talking about this yesterday and thought somebody like Waltz could suit it.

Some spoilers here, so please don't read ahead if you're worried.

I watched it tonight as I didn't want to pay for it given how bad the trailers were (seriously bad marketing).

The leads were actually fine. Did not mind them at all and performed great. As most people would probably agree, Holtzmann was the standout but even Patty, who seemed like she'd be the stereotypical loud black woman, was not how the trailers portrayed her.

Hemsworth's character was extremely poorly written. I get what they were going for, but for me, it just fell flat. The film and story was actually not too bad up until he was introduced and then it turned lame and never recovered. The villain was also pretty weak and uninteresting with zero real backstory.

Feig and co have been incredibly lazy in simply blaming criticism on people not liking female Ghostbusters. That's just a small and perhaps loud section of the criticism. The main issue is as you said - direction, writing and even overall story arc. Like the villain's motives, Erin's "traumatic" life of not being believed, any real point to Hemsworth's character other than to serve as a plot device, extremely weak jokes and make the lead actress weak at the knees... just lazy humour and in no way stands up to the original. I mean, it's basically a remake of the original with the interesting parts taken out and a weaker third act tacked on.

So I'm standing in jbhifi today
Theres 2 for 30, 2 for 20 and 20% off on top....and I can see nothing I want
So I purchased Ghostbusters 2016

I feel dirty
Why would you even buy a DVD. It's a dead technology. I just download everything I want, which would never be Ghostbusters 2016.

I still buy dvd, streaming isn't quite "there" yet in terms of quality matching a proper dvd or blu-ray source.

That said once I buy a movie, tv series orrrrr football dvd. I convert it on the computer then watch it on a hard drive :D
Download. Not stream. They are completely different.

I have paid for my movie downloads, those I did this year (eg batman v superman). Before the physical version was out....I was able to make my own BETTER quality digital version with the source material (the UE from jb).

Why do so many people complain about a poor villain in modern movies? Gozer is in Ghostbusters for like, 5 minutes.

Ever since The Dark Knight, all villains have to be extraordinary characters and have oodles of screen time. The same complaint was made about Deadpool. If you are watching Deadpool for a strong antagonist, you miss the point. I haven't seen the new Ghostbusters, and may never see it, but the original was never about the baddies. It was about the Ghostbusters and the mystery and adventure they have.

If the new movie has prioritised the protagonists then it has at least one thing right.

I watched this steaming pile of shit last night, honestly I couldn't believe how bad it was.

It tries really, really, really hard to be funny but it just isn't pretty much every single joke falls flat.
A serious, insulting turkey, that just trashes the brilliant original Ghostbusters.

**** that piece of shit director and those money grabbing campaigners at Sony.

Hated it/10.

Sounds like it's going to be based on Extreme Ghostbusters. Casting call has gone out for teenage leads apparently.

Reckon it'll be a bunch of young adults find the old gear/vehicle, probably in the barn owned by Ray, we'll get proper involvement from the remaining living cast members. Something will happen, fun will be had.
