OK, all. I've added a poll to see which of the 16 candidates named in the Fox AFL article is your preferred coach. (Not necessarily who you think will get the job - who you want.)
Presented by The Golden Ticket - For Medallion Club tickets and Corporate Box tickets at the MCG and Marvel.
From Carlton? Why do you think that?I have a hunch (just a hunch) that Hansen might be our next coach.

That will be up to the AFL Commission. That decision for either North or GWS will be determined by Clarkson. Not this time, amigos.
That wizardry may have worked with the Kelly deal but it ain't cutting it with future North coach - Alastair Clarkson.

Yep, they don't even try to disguise their agenda or bias these days, do they?I love how bias Vic media are in pushing the Clarko to North agenda.
Hansen has big wraps on him, he will get a job at some stageI have a hunch (just a hunch) that Hansen might be our next coach.
Agree the players aren't responding to McVeigh, Hird and soloman setup at all, all three can't be there next year.We need a coach who can restore the sense of purpose and direction we used to have.
Up until 2020, there was a sense of destiny around the club. We were expected to win a premiership. That was our story. COVID exposed all of the accumulated underlying divisions and blew that away.
With our current situation, if so many players have already checked out for the season, that tells me McVeigh isn't the person who can restore purpose and direction. We don't have a team at the moment. Yes, the list has problems, and when the season finishes there will be a clean-out, but our challenge is bigger than that.
The new coach must create, from scratch, a sense of purpose, direction and destiny. That is hard, but every successful coach does it.
If that person is an up-and-comer, rather than a big name, I'm inclined to give them an opportunity. As long as they have a plan
to create a team with purpose and direction.
If you wants teachers then a Dean and a Don sounds about rightAgree the players aren't responding to McVeigh, Hird and soloman setup at all, all three can't be there next year.
Do they go a McRae type of coach, teacher of young players with plenty of experience? Is that more beneficial than a clarko? Not sure Al is that good with the new generation, seemed to trade out youth for experience in his last few years at the Hawks, with not so great results.
I'd be looking for a coaching group, inexperienced senior coach with lots of industry experience at a few clubs, with an ex senior coach as the senior assistant.
Maybe you poach dean Cox and don Pyke
You’re right, so long as all the other pieces are in place. Shepherd, Bartel, Matthews and McCartney are responsible for creating and maintaining a platform for the coach to succeed. Let’s see if they’re up to it. Recent history suggests they’re no chance. Will Dave’s boys club be broken up?We need a coach who can restore the sense of purpose and direction we used to have.

Don pike appeals to me.Agree the players aren't responding to McVeigh, Hird and soloman setup at all, all three can't be there next year.
