Agree with King very much here. Would be good if one of the post match journos thought to ask a question about the "go slow and sideways" game plan at a post match presser.

Summary of the questions from that presser:
  1. - Were you rapt with your own return to form
  2. - Did you feel you were under pressure and how did that affect you
  3. - Has the Captaincy been responsible for your form slump
  4. - What's the mood of the team
  5. - Did you read Deledio's comments as playing as individuals rather than as a team
  6. - Why do you think the team is down in form
  7. - The GF re-match this week - what significance does that have
  8. - What have you learned since being captain in Covid and what would you have done differently
  9. - The level of contested possession - why would that have dropped
The only ones where he was required to give anything other than a brain dead answer were #5 #8 and at a stretch #9.

Not a single question about the appalling go slow, down the line, chip sideways, avoid the corridor at all costs game plan. Amazing.

I placed this in the Nick Haynes player thread too; despite its unusual source (the ABC - WTF?), it is a great analysis of defensive strategy.

The ABC hired one of the stats guys from an independent site this year and he's putting up some great articles.

I hope they back it up with a story about the death threats and the other side of footy

Well there you go....

No AFL Statement as yet but they have just released 1 regarding the post game behaviour of players
There‘s no excuse for making death threats against a person or their family. Piss poor behaviour by opposition supporters who don’t understand that there’s a line in the sand. What happened on the field with the free kick falls on the umpires.

Whitfield was on SEN tonight.

Bob Murphy asked a good simple question: "the Giants sitting 11th on the ladder 5 weeks out from finals - it just doesn't seem right".

LW: "Yeah ideally we wouldn't be sitting 11th. We've got full faith in the ability of this group to turn this around as we have before."

On Riccardi:

LW: "Yeah he's probably the best lead up forward on the list - probably outside Jezza Cameron"

SEN Melb. Radio G. Whateley Program "The Top Office With Tony Shepherd".

An illuminating interview with T. Shepherd, providing a very rare insight into the AFL HQ's inner sanctum; & AFL HQ's motivation in establishing GWS & GCFC, & AFL HQ's current evaluation on the funding/present progress of GWS.
