There are still recorded people alive today who are pushing 8 foot but alas not as many it seems. Robert Wadlow might've been the last to carry that gene. The really freakin tall gene. There sure is a lot of evidence, recorded and anecdotal to suggest there was a higher portion of giant/tall people around on the late 1800s and early 1900s.

I don't think they were based in a certain location.

According to the bible they were the offspring of fallen angels cast out from heaven mating with human women. They were evil cannibalist who hunted humans.

The Nephilim were the reason that God created the first flood to wipe them out and ordered Noah to create the ark.

Make of it what you will.

Always makes me laugh that God had to order a 600 year old man to build a boat to fit 2 of each animal on in order to continue the survival of life that he himself created out of thin air, so he could flood the earth to rid it of a problem he was responsible for.

Could apparently create anything out of nothing, but couldn't solve the problems he was inherently responsible for.

Sounds like something that makes a good story in a book.
