So rumors are Grundy is wanting to come back to SA.

Would anyone here rather than trade for him than Gibbs? (assuming its one or the other since we've only got so many picks). I sure would.
Is that based on the story from Talking Footy? Because that wasn't the jist of it. They said he's put off talks basically to earn more money based on current form and then they went on to say the SA clubs would be interested.

I have just heard talk.

regardless of the validity of the rumor.. it's a good hypothetical discussion IMO.

Grundy would cost us about the same in trade value as we offered Carlton for Gibbs last year I reckon.

Why would they want him? They've got Ryder on close to a million a year.. doubt they can afford to pay for Grundy too.
They'll offload Lobbe who's on a pretty sizable contract, and possibly shop Hartlett around again.

He would be a huge get for us...... And as much as I like ROB he's a huge upgrade on him.

No one wanted Lobbe last time, not sure why anyone would be biting a year later.

Dogs wanted him for a first rounder and Port said no...... Port will back none too kindly on that.

West Coast tend to recruit a ruckman of little quality every year.
That was in 2015 wasn't it? He had a shit 2016 and probably won't get a game this year as long as Ryder stays healthy.

WC will get Nic Nat and Lycett back, Vardy is slowly ramping up and have Fraser McInness as backup too. Giles carcass is still better value for money than Giles at this stage.

Can't see them paying what it would cost when they have already paid a shit ton for an athletic ruckman.

Sam Jacobs will be 30 next season. Grundy will be 23 and would set us up for the next decade.

He's an extra midfielder the way he plays. Definitely fits with the way the game is going far better than a lumbering tap only ruck like ROB.

We've got Jacobs signed for a few more years though don't we?

Like I said in the other thread, if we're getting Grundy, it's likely IMO that Lever goes to the Pies and that Sauce will get traded. I doubt either of those things will happen, so I can't see him moving here. I'd be absolutely elated if it did happen though.

Thommo took a massive pay cut & not on the money Sauce is.

Playing sanfl coach.
Playing? All of a sudden can't carry into SANFL an ongoing shoulder injury that he carried at AFL level for years. Thommo is a selfish footballer and I doubt that he'll clock half a dozen games unless there's an AFL carrot in front of him. We're now 7 from 7 without the archetypal rover that refuses to run backwards. He's been a certain liability since round 7 last year and there's significant doubt whether his game style was a positive at all. Super warrior and champ of our club but his style ceased to be relevant about 3 years ago. But due to his enormous contribution over the years we maintained that there was a spot for a stoppage specialist that can't cover ground. We've done the same with Mackay to a lesser extent.

The first piece of evidence that Thommo was a selfish footballer was his lack if defensive running and Bickley stating on AA that it was known and accepted that Thommo didn't work back. The second clue was when Thommo continually put himself ahead of the club by stating he wanted to go on the year after. Most, if not all, veterans do not do this. They almost always state that they're not sure it's a long season and they'll address it later after seeing how the body copes. Not Thommo, he was supremely confident last year that he was still a genuine best 22 player. But our club fosters this bullshit. How many captains of the last decade or 2 need to be forcibly removed from the role as VB was. Our club has sheltered and encouraged these attitudes but it's changing. Thommo failed to realise this. Thank fuq VB is gone and thank fuq Thommo has realised he's done as well. He will play SFA SANFL games. He doesn't have it in him. He is a selfish footballer, but that made him te champ that he was, but his time came 2 years ago we're miles better off without him.
