All depends and IMO we need to look at the overall transactions to balance out the net effect

Lever deal is a big tick
Getting 12 back for Charlie would be a big tick
Getting a future 2nd round pick back from Carlton would be a small tick
2 ist rounders for Gibbs is ok this year but not last year?

if that deal goes through, the AFC have confirmed their insanity.

There is no evidence that anything has happened with Gibbs since last year.

None of the stupid shit about talks being in motion for months fits any of the events that are happening.

Highly rated South Australians. They all end up at least 5-10 spots lower over the course of their drafting year.

EDIT - come to think of it, Gibbs might be the last bloke who held his value from age 16.5 to 17.5
Francis was always touted as top ten right throughout his draft year too.

12 + 16 with a second round back next year might not be terrible this years draft is very weak

But Carlton approached us so we should have the upper hand
So really what happens is Cameron + 10 + 16 for Gibbs + 12 + pick in the 20s next year.

I'm not sure how i feel.

Carlton without Gibbs have the potential for a bottom 4 finish next season, equating to a second round pick in the early 20s.

Picks 10 or 12 and 16 in a weak draft for Gibbs and an early 20s pick in a strong draft is a deal I would be happy with.

That deal isn't for two firsts. That's a first and a downgrade (for Cameron which is in our best interests to trade now).

Would difference between 10 and 12 mean much to Carlton? Surely 16 is what they need so they can trade to get picks for Kennedy and Lang.
That said, matters to us because we're hoping Fogarty gets down to there. Which could be moot point.

all this super draft talk seems pretty vague to me.

for the most part it sounds more like you won't be able to miss in the top 10, not that it bats all the way down to 40-odd.

also don't like the idea that whatever we may or may not get for Cameron has anything to do with our dealing with Carlton - "you guys just played in a grand final, how many first round picks do you really need?" - GAGF.

I call BS, media have nothing else to write about so have circled back to Gibbs.

Neither Carlton nor Adelaide will back down from their original bids.

He's not worth 2 1st's, both clubs know that but Carlton can't accept any less now. The crowd also won't give 2 1st's as they didn't last year and if they did this year they'll just look stupid.

I think 16 + 2018 2nd round pick is a pretty fair deal and one I would prefer to do.

However, if Carlton are strong in wanting 2 first round picks, then the absolute MAX I would do is 12 + 16 for Gibbs and Carlton's 2018 2nd round pick.

That 2nd rounder will be an early one is a draft that will have a few good SA lads. It gives us flexibility in trade currency if we want to move up into top 5 and select one of those gun SA kids.

There is not a shred of evidence that Adelaide and Carlton are talking.

Not one. No solid media sources. Nothing.
