Terry Wallace reckons Carlton should take 16 and next year's 2nd to get Kennedy through the door....I like it but I'm not seeing it.
I think the sell is the most important factor here. Carlton have been backgrounding 'journalists' about 2 firsts and their supporters have lapped it up. The deal needs to be complicated or the result not entirely known immediately (the Gore Principle) so that it can be sold as not a loss. With a couple of players coming in, it will make it harder to judge whether they got 2 firsts or not. A straight swap of Gibbs for pick(s) I would think remains highly unlikely.

Jeez Carlton came to us!...........SOS thought he had us but Reid didn’t blink. Perhaps we left it all up to Gibbs to handle his end (as should have happened last year)...... It’s not over yet though but liking the new improved tactics displayed by the club.
If theres to be a trade im guessing the whole scenario of how the narrative would play out was worked out well in advance by both clubs. SOS coming to Adelaide would just be a way to say Carlton are having the trade on their terms.

Here are my thoughts

Essentially, if we can get Gibbs and Carlton's 2018 2nd round pick (likely to be early to mid 20s) for essentially pick 16 and Charlie Cameron, I think I would do that.

It leaves us with top 10 pick in this year's draft and 2 x 1st round picks and 2 x 2nd round picks in 2018. If next year's draft is as good as people are saying, then that 2nd rounder might be as good if not better than pick 16 this year.

Even if it isn't, it gives us 3 picks inside inside 25 next year (plus Melbourne's 2nd rounder), it gives us a lot of trade currency to try and move up and get one of those SA guns next year.

Im confident that Carlton will f**k up next year if they lose Gibbs. Gibbs had a great 2017 and they were still a bottom 4 Club.

That second rounder could be as high as ~pick 19.
