Is that why clubs tag him week in week out, because they know that he won't do much regardless?

Someone like Murphy would walk into your club and starting 18 with ease. But then again, you probably wouldn't want him around the club because he may go some way to ending the Tiges run of mediocrity.
Ive never said Murphy is crap, just that he isn't as good as you seem to think and a step below Deledio.
You can say Deledio had second year blues all you like but he had a better year last year then Murphy has this year.
So just read before having a big teary like you always do when somebody bags you're bwues

When have I ever said that Deledio had 2nd year blues?

Find me just one time I said that...go on...

Or have you jumped the gun again and tried to get me to admit I said what you may really think?

For your sake I hope that Tambo is a special case :o

he will be, didn't have the easiest of introductions, injury, moving him and he's pregnant girlfriend from darwin when they were still teenagers.
when you watch him you can see that it is starting to click.;)

and i am not going to sift through 1000's of posts because I know that you have been involved in Carlton love fests about how much better Murphy is and how Deledio has gone backwards and had second year blues.
Don't deny it

Any more excuses you'd like to reel off? Was the plane too bumpy on the way to Melbourne for poor Tambo?

Translation: I've just been through your posts and there's nothing of the sort there. I've always said that Deledio was a gun. Looked like he was struggling at times, but so is everyone down at Tigerland. Will be a gun.

I can assure you I have't I just now that you said he has gone backwards and had second year blues

I suspect that when it all clicks for the Blues, many of the posters saying we have no talent will be the same ones that then say 'but look how many number one draft picks you have!'
But isn't Gibbs' talent just proof that he HAS been disappointing?

I mean, he has the talent to average more than 12.5 disposals per game, and he is more talented than Marc Murphy, Travis Boak or Joel Selwood, for comparison, yet his first season hasn't been as good as theirs. You expect a more talented player to perform as well or better than they did.

As I said, I think he will be a fine player in the future, but I would have expected him to show more this season, given the opportunity and playing time he's been given.

..I mean, he has the talent to average more than 12.5 disposals per game,....

There you go again. Watching online footy stats rather than watching footy games. Everyone knows possession stats are meaningless nowdays, and more related to the gameplan the coach uses. When Ratten took over, he changed our gameplan to a high possession gameplan and the stats got huge. But of course it means zip. Start watching footy matches, and understand why good players are good, and you'll gain a little cred. It's about awareness, footy smarts, quick thinking, assessing a situation quickly, making the right decision, providing good options, sublime skill execution under pressure, and giving opportunity to your team-mates. Something superstars of the game do so well, and something statisticians can't record on their online spreadsheets. :)

I agree about Tambling, in that he has not had the easiest of intros to afl footy. Other than the factors you just mentioned, I'd also like to point out that he is:

1. 4 foot 3,
2. 50kg, and
3. shit.

Other than that, he'll be fine :thumbsu:

It's called optimism.
I'll have to add that one to the definition:

op·ti·mism [ óptə mìzzəm ]
n.

Definition:

1. A tendency to expect the best possible outcome or dwell on the most hopeful aspects of a situation: "There is a touch of optimism in every worry about one's own moral cleanliness" Victoria Ocampo.

2. Philosophy
a. The doctrine, asserted by Leibnitz, that this world is the best of all possible worlds.
b. The belief that the universe is improving and that good will ultimately triumph over evil.

3. See: Delusions of Grandeur

Reality? Collingwood have had ZERO successful years under more than a Decade of Eddie-Spin. And ONE successful year in about half-a-century. That is just a fact. A pathetic reality. By contrast the Blues have 16 flags. Small Victorian Clubs like the Hawks and North have even had far more success than Collingwood. To make matters worse your list is aging fast. Next year for example, your Captain will be 8 years older than the oldest player on our list. And if Lance retires there'll be a decade difference! There just seems to be an inevitable conflict between Collingwood and Reality. Hence the massive Collingwood Excuse Waves we see every year. The Collingwood Football Club won't be successful until they stop the denial thing. Can't see it happening, which is actually a good thing. Laughing at the Collingwood Football Club has been good thing for football for many decades now. A nice tradition. :)
