This thread shows that Gibbs is better in the opinion of others. Until we get the chance to see Gibbsy take on Murphy at full flight (preferably at training!), I guess we shalt never know.

No harm:thumbsu:.

I know what you mean.

But, i'd rather compare them in a match situation. Who handles pressure situations better? Who cracks in a big match? Who kicks match winning goals? Who performs in final? (Whenever the fuc* we play another final).

And let's hope it will only happen on the training track. ;)
The primary thought of me posting the bracketed comment was that I hopefully didn't give any sort of hint that I'd like Bryce or Marc else where (in which I don't:))

Thanks technology for brackets.

Apart from all the hype about Murphy, that game against WCE at Subiaco when we should have won sold it for me. He's got the game that will see him be able to perform in big games against quality players. But yeah, bring on some flipping finals so we can see them perform :thumbsu:

Since no one is really posting who they voted for, I will.

If I had to decide, I would rather keep Murphy. Its not based on much, as we havent seen a lot, but I think Murphy will have better leadership skillls and Gibbs Will have better football skills.

Based on that, and the fact that Murph would still have an endless amount of talent, I went for him. I think we of all supporters should know the value of leadership in a team.

For all those posters that said they couldnt vote, finish stroking yourself and choose. Its a hyperthetical. Im not trying to turn this into a negative thread, but im sure even the posters would admit, added together, its all a bit too much lovey dovey (wow, easier to say than spell) for footy.

We all love each of them, have high hopes for both, want both, and the loser won't get struck down, or leave the team in disgust.

You're talking about the scenario of a possible expansion draft.

I look back a few years to the NBA introducing the Charlotte Bobcats just a few years ago.

NBA rosters have approximately 15 players on them. Each team was instructed to hand to the Bobcats and the NBA a list of 10 untouchable players that the Bobcats could not poach. That's 66% of the list that was safe. That means the best starting 5 AND 5 reserve players to come off the bench.

If the AFL were to organise for the new clubs to come into the league through an expansion draft, there is absolutely no way that we would only have 10 players that we could deem to be untouchable. I have no doubt that we would be allowed to put in a list of around 30 players. That's just over 70% of the list. The other 12 could theoretically be poached. Aloowing only 10 players to be locked in to stay at the club would be absolutely ludicrous.

Aside from that, this is a silly poll. Both will be stars and we will probably never have to make such a choice.

BTW where's the poll option for 'neither'? ;)

Holly figjam Batman...... I didn't read the question properly & voted the wrong player........ that'll teach me hahahahaha

I would rather get rid of Murphy to the new team rather than Gibbs.....
haha , surprise surprise TB . Some how I think your girl would keep Gibbs too !

Not a thread that I will vote in either as I'm not big on comparisons . That said , if Murphy couldn't kick over a jam tin then you can't call him a quality midfielder .

You'd have to break their legs making the new teams not want them in the first place... Ehh so we miss them for a year whilst they're recovering, at least we don't have one of them kicking our arses as oppositions.

I think realistically we may end up giving up a Carrazzo or Hadley before one of these two.

I was thinking more like 15 players are off limits, and the new team (or teams) must choose one player from each club and make up the rest through local players/draft selections. Or, another option would be to give each club a number of untouchables based on ladder position - eg. Geelong this year would have 5 untouchables, while Richmond would have 21.

Yep. problem is that I can't see any players wanting to go play football in qld if there not from there and even if they are. Can't see it attracting the same interest from current afl players as with the WA and SA teams as they are football states and have far more players in the league.

I don't think there will be a system where clubs are forced to give up players that don't want to go. AFL players association would go nuts. With that in mind I'm struggling to see how these teams are gonna get many current afl players that aren't just fringe players

Big money offers to playing coming out of contract will be the only way.
