Agree. I'm confident it will get done, just pointing out the idea of just walking away isn't as simple as some think.
It is simple as we were approached - not the other way around!

Imo, will be irrelevant as a deal will get done.

He'll get a game as ous side has no link up players. Like it or not but we were worse when he wasn't in the team. Our team has no speed in the middle...ditto. yes we have Cameron and Smith but not playing enough time in the middle. Until we fix this problem Makay stays
What ever you say Mackay.

One last thing before I leave your board. Seems from IM's that some of you don't want me here which I respect. Carlton are not going to to take less than Gibbs is worth because they do not need to trade him. Adelaide are not going to pay more than he is worth because they do not need to take him. The deal will get done, I understand early next week, and all of us will be a little bit disappointed but not very disappointed.
Nah, stick around. Don't listen to the salty spergers.

Heard that also heard his reply was well see and is stepping up his training.
A few are putting in some hard yards, Looks Like Pyke gave the hard word to a few of them.
LMAO is that like when he has that look of confidence on his face with ball in hand, you know when he is about to deliver a worm burner but in reality the ball flies off his boot, into the crowd and decapitates a 3 year old.

I was under the impression that they have a lack of salary cap room, i may be wrong though.
Yeah that is about right, they signed on players they massively overrated to long term big money deals, and then they used their picks to trade in (on big dollars) a 'not quite a ruck, not quite a forward' drug cheat and a 26 year old 83 game forward that has never played out a season.

They are not list management masterminds.

you may not rate the Bulldogs mids as A graders, but what they were able to do was turn up and play out of their skins in 4 must-win finals in a row which puts them the length of Flemmington ahead of our group.
And I am not disputing that even for a second. In fact I 100% agree with it.

Anyway that still does not answer my question. Other than Sydney and GWS what other teams currently have 3 genuine A graders in their midfield.

We should consider hartlett as a backup trade option for Gibbs... but say we traded out 3+ of Douglas, Lyons, mackay & cey... could we fit in rockliff, Gibbs & hartlett? Reidy would need to get busy!
Kane ....if Hartlett was the fall back position on Gibbs ...watch this board explode

IMO with only 4 days to go .....the best we can hope for is two players .....Gibbs a cert, and ????

Who goes for the 2nd player ? .......IMO picks, with Lyons, CEY, Otten, and Henderson the quartet of trade potentials

Not being biased here ......just not seeing Mackay / Douglas being traded whilst on contract ...has not been our style, and the others i named will be looking for greater opportunities

I can see Lyons & Otten going to Port though

I Can say they were not in his ear all year, And remember He approached them
That is not true. Adelaide has been in his ear all year (and the previous one). However, it was Carlton that floated this trade. It was first floated last years trade period but they were after a different deal back then.

Hawthorn are going out to get the picks needed for the O"Meara trade so why cant Adelaide get off their backsides and trade out a good player for a 1st round pick from another club to give to us?
Pretty sure wed come up with whats necessary for O'Meara as well. Holly crap is it really that confusing?

They will be all over the Franklin deal if they try to renegotiate. And you are right; there needs to be something seriously wrong.
This was my point ? .....if the AFL would be all over the Franklin deal if renegotiated ...why wouldn't that be the case with Gibbs ......or is that because the Franklin deal was his Unrestricted Free Agency offer?

Think i answered my own question o_O

Still struggling with this situation:
Carlton sign Gibbs ...5 years @ $650K = $3.25M

Now Carlton forward pay .. example $2M over the first 2 years, leaving a balance of $1.25M over 3 years = $416K per year

Adelaide secures Gibbs with 3 years on his contract .....are you saying Gibbs still gets 3 years @ $650K or 3 years @416K??? .....this is what i'm struggling with in the process?

Go_Blues! if my above post and your feedback says the contract is renegotiated with the trade ......does Carlton ask for part of the monies they forward paid, believing they had a return from the player over 5 years?

Port can't afford any players unless they move hartlett to us or lobbe elsewhere.

Tell him he's not getting a game. It'll cost him roughly $50,000 in match payments, or more like $100k over two years. That could convince him to look somewhere else.
Was speaking to someone involved ......they said 50 % of AFL Player contracts are unconditional (highly paid players) ....whilst the other 50% are on incentive contracts, which include match payments

Obviously Mackay is on the unconditional contract :D

Why do Port fans keep telling me that they don't have salary cap pressures because they didn't have to pay Ryder/Monfries contracts this year and that extra money rolls over to next year, thereby having 'extra cash' or room to move.
