I cant believe we have posters here saying losing 2 first rounders isnt a big deal because we got through losing two over Tippett ok.
No, its not ok. If we had those two picks we most likely wouldnt be saying our midfield lacked depth.
Difference is this time we're able to get something for it instead of it vanishing into thin air.

Also we'll be getting a gun midfielder in return.

I do agree however 2 firsts is a too big of a price without us getting something back with Gibbs.

This is where Carlton can really bend us over.

Lyons to walk to the preseason draft and the Blues get him. In effect then we can lose 1st 2016 and 2017 and Lyons.
This trade week seems to have gotten away from us.
First we thought Hendo would get us a compo pick, but it didnt happen and will most likely go for nothing as a delisted FA.
Secondly we thought we could push out Lyons for a second but with one a bit days to go we havent and he could go for nothing in the PSD.
Thirdly Carlton have decided to act like pricks and make us pay way overs.
Fourth, we dont appear to have any other irons in the fire to get another mid in trade period.
Concerning.
Also scarey to see on the news that they were saying that Noble leaving has hurt our ability to trade because he was the only experienced person doing that at our club.

This is from the Carlton website:

Discussions continue between Carlton and the Adelaide Football Club ahead of the AFL’s Trade Period deadline on Thursday afternoon.

General Manager of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni says there have been ongoing discussions with the Crows in recent days, after Bryce Gibbs signalled his desire to return to his home state due to personal reasons.

“There have been discussions with Adelaide to settle on a fair trade, but while we are empathetic to Bryce’s personal situation, Bryce has a contract with the Carlton Football Club and we expect him to see it out,” Silvagni said.

“He is a contracted player, however as yet, no deal has been put forward that we feel would sufficiently match the value of Bryce; given his standing as a 200-plus game leader at our football club.

“Obviously the two clubs have their respective positions on what is a fair trade, so we will continue to work through this.”

Silvagni added that discussions also remain ongoing following Zach Tuohy’s request to explore his options elsewhere.

“Zach has chosen to explore his options, but we are close to a deal on this, and confident we will get a good outcome for our football club,” Silvagni said.

The NAB AFL Trade Period officially closes at 2:00pm on Thursday afternoon.
Ah nothing like the old, cover up to keep the blue baggers happy until the last minute..

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There's 0% chance he'd come to Adelaide. Doesn't matter how hard we went, he wants to move to Victoria to be with his partner.
No one in their right minds would have believed Buddy would have gone to Sydney at the end of the 2012 season it would have been also rated as a 0% chance too. No one ever thought Tippett would go to Sydney either. Plenty of examples in AFL.

Shit happens.

Of course its extremely unlikely, but never say never. Its a defeatist attitude to have otherwise and a real loser mentality. Having a sense of realism is also required, but I would hope that our Club has at least explored all these options.

Edited for accuracy.

Considering nothing has happened yet you might just be jumping the gun a bit.
He got an article published on the CFC website. Big winner.

Reality is that he can now announce a trade on Thursday and tell the Carlton masses that he got an incredible deal for Gibbs.

As I said we need to let the dust settle and sees what actually transpires before we all go.......

Silvagni is just coming out of this looking like a grand standing, chest beating flog.
He probably just secured another contract himself if he manages to get two first rounders from us in exchange for Gibbs and their 2nd. We definitely have paid overs.

Silvagni's statement allows him to say that whatever deal he eventually accepted was the best deal on the table, and 'fair' value for a contracted player who they 'expected' to see out the contract.

It's clever PR speak that sets him up for a win at the trade regardless of the outcome
