You repeat exactly what i said and then say comprehension isnt my strong point... beautiful irony mate
You post is being deceitful in suggesting that Carlton gave up pick 3 another 1st rounder and pick 30 for Judd but we are giving up 2 1 st rounders for Gibbs.

Botton line is tha Carlton gave up equivalent of 2 top 5 picks and pick 30. Two top 5 picks has more value than two first rounders which in this case are two picks in the teens

That is even if what you are claimingirst up is valid to start with. We are giving up a 1st rou d pick and downgrading another first round pick by a few spots. I know that's almost impossible for you to grasp so I am not sure why I even bother.

Just to add to this...why is everyone quoting him as 28? He's 27 ffs doesn't turn 28 for another 5 months.

And dont give me the bs of 'oh he will be 28 by the time he plays for us next season'...5 months is 5 months. That's basically halfway i could say he's basically 26 by that logic lol.

Then every 29 year old is actually 30 right now? 18 year olds are 19? That's not how age works...
We have a mathematical genius in our midst I see..

Season 2016 played for Carlton at 27 years old for the entirety of the season
Season 2017 if playing for the Crows he's 28 years old for the entirety of the season.

Are you serious, he'll be 28 when he plays in our strip. I could give a fat rats clacker what his age is now.

Because it wouldnt be rolling the dice lol. Rolling the dice says there is a chance they come up in our favor
So you think pick 13 and pick 15-20 will help you compete for a flag more in the next 3 seasons than a 27 year old Gibbs?

Obviously you rather the 2 picks long term, but you guys wanna be good now and we wanna be good later.

You fellas crack me up.

The bottom line is he is 27 right now. It really is black and white.

People keep referring him to being 28...if he was really 28 right now he would be 29 in his first season with Adelaide...it all counts and misleads others too who actually think he is 28 RIGHT NOW.

I don't see a problem

After 20 years without a flag and considering the current profile
Of our list it's time to roll the dice a bit

On current ladder position odds the slide on 2017 draft position could translate to about 6 places or even less in the draft

Based on this risk vs reward it's time for the club to back itself in and roll the dice
Fair enough. I'll back us in either way, we just need to be aware how quickly ladder positions can change. 2016 Bulldogs and Freo for example. Trading out our first in two consecutive years also affects our ability to trade picks in the following two years so that needs to be taken into account. I'm sure the club has certain targets in the 2017 draft which will also impact the decision too.

I'm still holding out hope that neither scenario comes into play and we land him for 13 plus later pick swaps in 3rd or 4th round.

So how much more football will he play while he's 27?

Carlton are not going to do a WB next year and I'm confident that we won't do a Fremantle

Carlton gave up pick 3, Kennedy (worth a first rounder) and 30 for for Chris Judd in his prime.

We are giving up 2 first rounders (admittedly lower first rounders) for an older Gibbs.
If the rumour is true

Carlton gave away:
Pick 3, 20 and Kennedy (pick 4, 2 years earlier) for Judd who was suffering OP (we got 46 back)

This time it will most likely be:
Pick 13 and Pick 15 at best and you get Pick 20 back for a player who you will get as many years from as we did Judd

Not comparing the quality between the two, but the difference in picks totals to:
10 picks ealier with first pick
9 picks ealier with second (plus development who turned into a superstar)
They received pick 20, we're giving you pick 20

The value of the two trade are not in the same ball park

People refer to him being 28 when he starts playing for us. What part of that aren't you able to comprehend. You're starting to make Port flogs look inteligent.

Yes. I'd do our two firsts for your second next year and that is probably where this will end up. The only other way it gets done is giving up one our young guns which would be very stupid on our part. Sell the picks, keep the youth.
I'm still in this ballpark. It's like an 8 place downgrade next year - which we will use for Edwards anyway.

This is my ceiling, and I wouldn't think we would put out any more than that. If we are still in the market for Rocky, then his spiralling price might help us out with a second rounder from Lyons + CEY doing the job.

If we get out of this trade period and draft with 2 out of 3 - Gibbs, Rockliff, Jarman - I'll be happy. 3 out of 3 I'd be shocked and ecstatic.

Props to the people on here, that have been on here a long time, and still have the energy to engage with the dumb shits, negative nellies and sky is falling-ers.

Dunno how you do it.

Anyway, just wanted to say I'm grateful.

Roll the dice and do the trade.

If we crash and burn, then at least we actually gave ourselves a shot at it.
You could never be blamed for it being a bad deal unless your 5 best players did ACLs and you missed the 8.

Freo, Essendon and GC will likely leap frog us next year (especially if we lose Gibbs) our 2017 second would still nab you pick 19-23

Guys lets get a grip here....POTENTIALLY our first this year and a slight downgrade of 1-6 spots for next year. The positives is nothing crazy happened with McGovern, Atkins or any of the crouch bros. who knows what will happen next trade period, we maybe upgrade that pick somehow in a trade. Next years draft is not final until next years trade period is done. We're actually making SOS look like genius the way we're carrying on here

I'd be happy with 2 out of 3.

Would love one pick in between 20 and 40 though. Lots of good SA talent will be there, currently underrated, most people tipping them for 30-60.

Also happy if we only end up losing 1 / 2 players for this to happen. Hendo or Lyons. Will be a bit sad if either of those go, but still ok with it. Will be more sad about Lyons, I reckon Hendo's pretty much at his ceiling, I think Lyons will climb a bit further. Happy for them to stay as well. Glad we'll likely keep Curly as well.

EDIT oops, just realised Hendo didn't trigger recontract so he's gone. O well, the rest stands.

I agree. Time to walk away before we completely sell the farm. He had a chance to come home a few years ago. We owe this kid nothing especially not a badly lop sided deal.
And yet you'll be the first to sink their teeth into the club for not winning a premiership.
