I'm 100 percent sure I could spend a couple of days and get you 1000s of quotes over time using 'in fages we trust' 'in Roo we trust' 'in rendell we trust'

There's a lot of scepticism (and rightly so) but there are always a bunch who will follow blindly.
Different scenarios altogether. Find the ones where that rhetoric has been used with opposition supporters.

Would be disappointed to give up 2 first rounders. Absolutely want to club to trade aggressively, but also smartly. Gibbs makes us better, but not "missing puzzle piece" better, and losing the second first round pick makes getting the other things we need harder, regardless of any later picks coming back the other way.

Yes, in a dream world, we win the flag and they finish bottom and we from from 18 to 19 but it would also be mighty tempting to the footy gods to deliver us our first top 5 pick.

Would trading our first rounders for this year and next for Gibbs and their second rounds this year and next be a fair deal?

Trade out Gibbs for an approx 10-14 pick upgrade for 2 years

isn't this close to what port have done? Yet everyone's bagging the shit out of them including their own supporters.
People are bagging them on the basis that that 13 won't be 13

13 to 22, 31 us probably close to best case for them and if it comes out like that then good deal

13 could be much lower in their case though. Based on this year it is 9 for 22, 31 so depending on how you think they will go it could be much worse than that deal.

for us 13 is probably realistic/mid range expectation so the best/worst case scenarios favour us more than in Ports deal.

But you make a good point, the fact that Port did that deal in a way that is more likely to end up a worse trade further shows that the pick downgrade is probably better than the straight out 2nd

I have some news about the trade. I have to admit that whilst it is from a good source the info is now third or fourth hand but the deal is the Carlton trade Adelaide Gibbs and Adelaide gives back our first this year and purple monkey dishwaher.

So the trade looks like this

Carlton Pick 13, Purple Monkey Dishwasher

Adelaide Gibbs

It probably looks now we wont be in the draft until the mid 50s if we get Gibbs. Sounds similar to 2012 and 13. Can the club sustain this. We can for B Jarman because we need to get best available. It doesn't seen like were moving any of our fringe players. We better not trade out any of next years picks. We will end up like PA.

Tyson Edwards has suggested we don't need Gibbs anyway because our midfield needs outside run. For a guy who's son is likely to become a Crow in 12 months it annoys me he apparently missed us recruiting Seedsman, Hampton and Milera last year, as well as the Swans demolishing us through the middle in the semi-final...

He's suggesting:

ADE Out: 2016 1st Round Selection, 2017 First Round Selection
CAR Out: B. Gibbs, 2016 2nd Round Selection, 2017 Second Round Selection

You'd take that.

GO YOU CROW BOYS
This is going to be unpopular.

People seem to still want it both ways. Go aggresively for a flag, but avoid the fall.

Yeah chase gibbs... but but what about our future.

Our time is now. Weve crafted a list to challenge now. Danger left a hole and i hate him for it.

I said last year we had to replace him NOW or wed struggle this year. Many thought we'd be fine. Ultimately we had our moments but our mids were found wanting when it mattered most.

We must improve our midfield to contend. Immediately.

If we pay overs from out future... we have a fall. We get a chance to rebuild.

Stop being the mentality many claim to despise in the club. We are the club. How we respond to this trade will have impact on future big decisions . Lets respond in a manner than encourages an appropriate level of risk taking.

I don't think it will be 2 x 1st rounders. I think it will be pick 13 2017 2nd and 53 for Gibbs 2017 3rd and 58. We won't trade our 1st out. Its not hard to trade back into the 2nd round but the 1st requires a good player moving on.

We will get a pick in the 20's for Lyons.

Carlton can't do the marchbank picket and hrovat trade until the Gibbs trade is done.....still think we hold if it's 2 first rounders
Marchbank deal wont get done until Gibbs deal. We have a lever to hold over Carlton. Or why don't we offer something to Marchbank to piss Carlton off. SOS thinks he superman, we need to take him down a peg.
It's funny the Carlton board a day or so ago were saying they don't need us 2nd rounders will get the marchbank deal done and they don't need us as they were dealing with gws before us.
Now they are saying they'll use our future first rounder for them.

Gibbs gets us closer, but I think we need more. If we spend everything on him and still fall short, we don't have anything left to spend.

As has been pointed out to me... Gibbs played a large part of his career with Judd along side him, he still never really looked at being elite.
If you needed it pointed out to you then you weren't paying close enough attention to Carlton to form an opinion on Gibbs ;)
