He's suggesting:

ADE Out: 2016 1st Round Selection, 2017 First Round Selection
CAR Out: B. Gibbs, 2016 2nd Round Selection, 2017 Second Round Selection

You'd take that.
Yeh my bad, I misread and thought I'd done a ninja edit before anyone would read it.

Absolutely I'd do it; I'd also be ok with our two firsts for Gibbs and their 2017 second rounder.

I'd still hope we can turn Lyons into Rockliff as well. We need to go hard.

Have faith in our recruiters ... carlton dont want to lose pick 5... im just very disappointed that rocky is in the market and we've done nothing to get him. Id give up a second even if he is a piece of shit. Back our culture.

Obviously future pick placements are unknown but as a guide, going into trade period next year would you rather
- 22, 31, 59...
- 13, 59....

If next year is a strong draft for depth then 22 and 31 over just 13 could be better. Also the alternative gives us no chips for trade week without missing out on draft talent which we won't want to do so adds some flexibility

There is every chance they want our 2nd this year and we are pushing for the downgrade instead. We could win negotiations but fans think we lost!

It really depends on draft strategy and obviously eventual placings
You would ALWAYS prefer 13 & 59

Because if you really wanted to you
Convert 13 to 22 & 31

Look at the haul st kinda got for 10

Lot easier to turn 13 into 22 & 31 than it is 22 & 31 into 13

When I say all in I don't mean to stop at Gibbs. The reality is no single player is likely to be the difference. Only hope is to grab a couple via trade and free agency and hope there is enough upside with the rest of the squad.
I don't know about free agency. Looking at the list of who's left, there's not a whole lot there that's got me very excited. We'll probably end up keeping Henderson, I reckon.

This is going to be unpopular.

People seem to still want it both ways. Go aggresively for a flag, but avoid the fall.

Yeah chase gibbs... but but what about our future.

Our time is now. Weve crafted a list to challenge now. Danger left a hole and i hate him for it.

I said last year we had to replace him NOW or wed struggle this year. Many thought we'd be fine. Ultimately we had our moments but our mids were found wanting when it mattered most.

We must improve our midfield to contend. Immediately.

If we pay overs from out future... we have a fall. We get a chance to rebuild.

Stop being the mentality many claim to despise in the club. We are the club. How we respond to this trade will have impact on future big decisions . Lets respond in a manner than encourages an appropriate level of risk taking.
Sorry, but that's a total crock.

And regardless of your risk appetite there is always a walk away price

If the price is 2 firsts we walk & firesale heartless for 13 straight. Port bite our hand off

Rockliff - for pick 13 Brisbane will eat 1/2 his salary. If we can get 26 for Lyons that's prob enough for rocky

If the price is 2 firsts we can get BOTH heartless & Rockliff for less

I love Gibbs as a player but we're better off in the scenario with heartless Rockliff & 2017 first safe

It's not even close in that scenario

If we give up 2 first rounders for Gibbs then our recruiters have failed. They have failed to gauge what price it would cost us before we went down this path.

If we were prepared to give up 2 firsts we should have targeted a younger better player than Gibbs and made it happen.

2 firsts surely would have got us Martin
2 firsts yes, if they were a least 1 in the top 10 if not both

2 1sts that are 13 and something teams would be banking on being 13 or worse with a low 2nd rounder coming back, no.

So many people judge a deal of a few key points from it and not the total.

not all 1st round picks are equal, you cant just ignore the other components involved in the deal also
