Bear in mind that it's a double edged sword, if you sell high then opposition clubs then will then expect you to buy high as well.

It might be all well and good when they do this for Gibbs, but lets see how those supporters feel when Carlton get the SOS treatment from another club.
Make no mistake, what goes around comes around in this game.

So if someone bids on F/S Edwards next year as first rounder, and we've swapped our first for Carltons second?
We use Carlton's second, with the 20% discount that's probably all we need unless it's top 10 which I doubt to select him.

It's minimum 12 picks this year.

What else do your magic beans tell you about next year?
What can your big intellect tell us about 2017? Where are Carlton and Adelaide likely to finish? Do you think we need to take calculated risks to win a flag?

If this was true we would get gibbs cheap as we constantly sell low

I'm sick of hearing 'We got less for Danger blah blah blah'. Yep we did get stiffed a bit in the deal but to get a guy with a 3yr contract still in play and with possibly 3/4 good years left, you gotta pay up.
Agreed. Totally different situations. Can you imagine if we were in this scenario with danger? Signs 5 year deal, wants to go home after 2.... we would have been able to pillage Geelong for 3 first round picks minimum.

GO YOU CROW BOYS
And regardless of your risk appetite there is always a walk away price

If the price is 2 firsts we walk & firesale heartless for 13 straight. Port bite our hand off

Rockliff - for pick 13 Brisbane will eat 1/2 his salary. If we can get 26 for Lyons that's prob enough for rocky

If the price is 2 firsts we can get BOTH heartless & Rockliff for less

I love Gibbs as a player but we're better off in the scenario with heartless Rockliff & 2017 first safe

It's not even close in that scenario
If we give up 2 first rounders for Gibbs then our recruiters have failed. They have failed to gauge what price it would cost us before we went down this path.

If we were prepared to give up 2 firsts we should have targeted a younger better player than Gibbs and made it happen.
Ive no issue with paying the right price or improving in other ways than landing gibbs.

Its the balance of cake.

This is hilarious

Adelaide dont really have a choice

The consequeences of Gibbs coming and failing after giving up two first rounders would be a horrendous situation, him alone will not win us a premiership it may help as would both Crouchs taking the next step in the mid without Gibbs there

The deal doesnt go ahead and Adelaide say SOS was too hard to deal with and we would have had to sell the farm

Which one do you think the AFC could control the backlash on?

How long would a club realistically need to put in a deal? I can't imagine Carlton would want to let this drag on for too long due to Marchbank/Pickett.
Reckon we will see a result today, but I doubt this deal is holding up our GWS deal. We will have multiple scenarios in play with them depending on which pick we use. Also talk that we might get Geelong's 2017 1st for Tuohy and our 2017 2nd and GWS probably hold 2017 picks in higher regard right now.
SOS probably has an idea of which scenario he would prefer and is just waiting to see how the rest of the chips fall, but I would expect that a GWS deal could get done quite easily in the last minutes tomorrow, so no stress there.

Depends what pick they try and use.

If it's pick 9

Pick 9 (1469) less 20% discount = 1176

A late 20s pick and an early 30s pick will be able to match that offer.

In fairness, Danger is a top 5 player in the comp and bona fide match winner singlehandedly.
